I purchased this after two colic episodes from a mare that had foundered and could not handle bute. She was doing well with Omeprazole in the AM but would crash after that and pain meds would run out in the evening. I hoped to use this in her evening feedings to help carry her overnight and support her overall gut health while on NSAIDs. The premise behind this product is great, but I agree with others that its lack of palatability makes it hard to see its benefits. The dosage, 120g(2 provided scoops), is a huge amount of powder. The product doesn’t smell terrible, but must not taste very good. My mare was initially not super thrilled with it, which I attributed with her not feeling good and her appetite being poor. She started eating it in her nightly feeds and it seemed to help (but was paired with med changes). However, this mare will no longer eat it now that we’re almost through the bucket. Maybe a pelleted version with some flavoring would be a better option for this product?

My horse loves it

Was hesitant because reviews said their horses didn’t eat it. I wanted something that replaces Tums, after an ulcer diagnosis. This got all I was looking for. Mix

Was hesitant because reviews said their horses didn’t eat it. I wanted something that replaces Tums, after an ulcer diagnosis. This got all I was looking for. Mix it with his new grain, and he gobbles it up. Paws impatiently as he waits for me to dump it into his bucket. His nose is covered in grain when he’s done, and is so happy when I ride. Will keep it in his daily preride regiment.

Made a huge difference for my mare

I know it's not palatable. But I mix it with some soaked alfalfa timothy cubes and it's been a game changer for my mare and her chronic colic situation. BUT you can't add it to anything wet until right before you feed it or you'll break it down. She had been on Omeprazole and Sucralfate for years and was still miserable. She's much happier, I can groom her, and scratch her belly and she enjoys it again. I don't dare jinx it, but she's doing better on this than she did on all the ulcer meds. Thank God for the vet that recommended it to me.

Works wonders

This has really helped my horse. He dives right into his bucket, and eats it all. Best price so far that I’ve found for the large bucket, and a product I plan on

Not Palatable

Horse refuses to eat it as top dressing and will not eat his food at all if I make it adhere to his grain. Usually not a picky eater at all and will take supplements
