Can it be put on a rubber bowl and it says don’t use an extension cord so what cord do you use to make it work then?

This product is safe for all stock tanks. You must plug your Ultimate Stock Tank Deicer directly into a properly grounded electrical outlet.

How big of a tank will 1000 heat?

Although it varies based on what zone you live in (according to the zone chart) the 1000 watts can heat up to 125 gallons.

I am in zone 6 and have a 100 gallon stock tank for horses. Which wattage should I choose? Also does this heater shut off when the outside temp gets above freezibg?

Please click on the attached photo to determine the wattage you need. For a 100 gallon tank in zone 6, the 750 watt deicer is recommended. This is designed with internal thermostats that automatically monitor water temperature and turn the unit on and off to keep the average water temperature just above freezing. The unique technology ensures that your stock tank de-icer will only run as often as needed.

This heater can float on the surface to make sure the surface water stays thawed.

Unfortunately these do not seem to be of as good quality as they used to be. The first one I ordered melted and froze solid in the trough in the first few days

Unfortunately these do not seem to be of as good quality as they used to be. The first one I ordered melted and froze solid in the trough in the first few days. Thinking it was a fluke I ordered another. The second malfunctioned as well. Third time I tried the Farm Innovators Utility Cast Aluminum De-Icer, 250-watt: https://www.chewy.com/dp/312299?utm_source=app-share&utm_campaign=312299 Wasn't sure if it would work because of the lower watts, but was getting desperate. It's actually doing a great job. Just for anyone else that has had issues with the K&H ones.

Used to be good, not anymore

I have bought these heaters for years and have always had good luck with them. This year I bought two new ones to replace ones I have had for years. The first one

I have bought these heaters for years and have always had good luck with them. This year I bought two new ones to replace ones I have had for years. The first one shorted out within days and the second one lasted a week. Looks like other people are also having issues. I tried again. Bought these elsewhere in case it was a bad batch. Those two are still working, but are shocking my horses. I had to ground out my water tank. I wonder if something changed with the manufacturing of them

Works Great

I’m using this 500w version in a 40gal cooler that I use as a stock tank for two horses. I have it floating and it’s been keeping the water ice-free in multiple-day

I’m using this 500w version in a 40gal cooler that I use as a stock tank for two horses. I have it floating and it’s been keeping the water ice-free in multiple-day stretches of sub 0 degree weather. I’ve been using it for months now with no issues at all. I’m ordering a second one for another tank now.

I am sadly disappointed it does not work as described

While it does warm up it does not keep ice melted away and I still have to break up top of ice off bucket/trough and that was not even a hard freeze so I worry when

It is not working.

Inch of ice on top of trough two mornings in a row first two days used. Have owned these heaters in the past and never had this issue.

Works great for our little pond.
