The KOHA Pure Shreds Duck Entrée Grain-Free Wet Cat Food contains 0.58% calcium on an as-fed basis and 3.02% on a dry matter basis, as well as 0.30% phosphorus as-fed and 1.56% on a dry matter basis.

Are the cans BPA free?

Koha cans are “BPA Non-Intent”, which means BPA is not intentionally added to the packaging. While trace amounts from the environment may still be present, they are at levels deemed safe by the FDA. Although many brands market their products as “BPA-free,” most food cans today still contain similar compounds, such as BPF, which act similarly. For that reason, Koha does not use the term “BPA-free,” as this brand believes it would be misleading. Koha is actively working with its suppliers and will be among the first to adopt a truly BPA-free option as soon as it becomes available.

This is a decent product. I will likely use it as an occasional treat, and not a mainstay in my cat's diet. Here's my take. On the plus side, it's got quality

This is a decent product. I will likely use it as an occasional treat, and not a mainstay in my cat's diet. Here's my take. On the plus side, it's got quality ingredients, and it is very palatable, at least to my picky girl. It's not very calorie dense. This is a plus if you need your cat to slim down. If you need to maintain your cat's weight, you might need to feed it more than what you're used to. Be sure to compare the calories you're currently feeding if you plan on switching to this food. It's got a very high moisture content. This could be a plus if your cat doesn't drink enough or if they are on a mostly kibble diet. Finally, the biggest drawback, and the reason for deducting one star is that it's manufactured in Thailand. I prefer pet food that is sourced from North America.

Looks good, has veggies, ingredients appear to be good but my cat will only eat a little, fresh from the can. So it seems my cat only wants fish cat foods, and maybe some chicken. Since he liked Chicken I thought for sure he'd like some duck. He tends to lean towards fowl and fish but he eats a few licks and then is no longer interested. I tried on two separate occasions to see if he'd like it, but had similar results. The food is a bit on the "wetter" side, and that there could lie the issue with my cat. He tends to like the flakier, drier canned foods. Overall I think it's a good food, it's just my cat has some pickiness that he can't get over. I think, generally, for cats with allergies to fish and maybe chicken this is a good alternative and even, senior cats who desire a softer food.

Our Fynn LOVES this food

I was surprised to see pieces of veggies and a brothy type gravy inside the can! We love that the cans have a pull tab for easy opening when our kitties are impatiently circling our legs for breakfast in the morning. Like all cat foods, this food has a strong odor that summoned the cats without us having to say a word 😂 Fynn even stood up on his broken leg to get to it faster! I'm sure we don't have the only cat spoiled enough to lick off the gravy and leave the chunks though 🤦🏼‍♀️

I was excited to try Pure Shreds for my cats. I am always looking for high quality and limited number ingredients for my pets. I was super happy that there was NO fillers (peas & potatoes) including in this soft food. Duck is the main ingredient with duck broth being a second ingredient with Pumpkin and Carrots following next, which are super foods for cats & dogs. I have 5 cats and 3 of the 5 had Pure Shreds consumed before the remaining 2 cats knew it was available. Pure Shreds was a big hit across my feline crew and highly recommend giving it a try.

Fish - a short hair, gray tabby about 15 years old was a huge fan of this food. Full disclosure - he is not normally very particular so he tends to like almost any wet food. His tummy can be a little particular though, but he did not have any problems with this food. Bear is a long hair black cat, who is about the same or maybe a little older than Fish. Bear was not interested in this food. He has become pickier as he’s got older. I tried to offer him the food twice (it seemed very similar to another food he likes), but both times he sniffed and would not try. Not sure what he was not impressed with, but Fish seemed to be pleased that Bear did not like it - more for him!

​If you own a cat, you know the struggle: getting them to eat enough moisture and finding a food they don't immediately turn their nose up at. The key here is the texture. It is actual, visible shredded duck meat (just one protein) swimming in a generous, savory broth. It doesn't have that gross pâté or chunky loaf consistency that they often sniff and walk away from. My cat goes absolutely nuts for this texture and licks the bowl clean every single time. ​This food is also amazing because it addresses the other big cat challenge: hydration. You know how vets preach about moisture for cat kidney health? This is an easy win. It's basically duck soup, so my cat is getting a ton of moisture, it is seriously high (up to 87%). It is a limited-ingredient, single-protein diet, which is great for cats with weird food issues or allergies. You won't find any of that unnecessary grain, pea, or potato filler nonsense that can upset their tummies. ​Don't worry, it's complete and balanced for adult cats and, most importantly, includes the essential nutrient Taurine they need for their hearts and eyes. Plus, there's a little pumpkin and spinach in there, which is a nice digestive bonus. Honestly, if your cat is famously finicky or just needs more water in their diet, you should definitely give this a shot. It has simplified mealtime and ensures my cat is actually getting the moisture and nutrition she needs!

I was excited to receive this new food. My cats like a variety and duck is not something I usually purchase. I have personal cats and a a few fosters. My personal cats only ate a few bites, leaving it untouched overnight. 2 of the 3 fosters ate about half of the food. My newest foster (recently off the streets) loved it though, but to be fair, he seems to love all food!
