  • Great flying fetch toy....just don't play tug with it!

    By on Top 250 Contributor

My Australian Shepherds love these, because they fly nearly as far as rigid discs, but they are soft. The outer rim is thicker and just stiff enough for good flight; the disc is soft enough your pup can safely grab it like a taco for years, without any cracks or damage. However, if you are playing with multiple dogs, you need several - and need to hope two or more don't decide to tug against one another. For puppies, these can be rolled along the ground, to introduce the chase and catch part of the disc game. I keep three of these in my van (the dog taxi) year round, meaning they survive temps of 12 degrees F in winter, and over 100 F in summer (van greenhouses a lot, so it's probably significantly My Australian Shepherds love these, because they fly nearly as far as rigid discs, but they are soft. My disc threesome are all close to a decade old, and still look almost new (when they are clean!). Highly recommended! … more

  • Not made for cattle dogs!

    By on

I don't typically write reviews but I thought I would on this one since the Frisbee lasted all of 3 minutes. This is NOT made for blue heelers! I have two Kongs that I stuff with peanut butter for my blue heeler so I thought a Frisbee made by the same company would be just as durable. Boy was I wrong. She didn't have the Frisbee more than 3 minutes and it's torn in two places. I had to take it away from her immediately b/c once she tears it, she'll try to eat the pieces. I wasn't happy especially since this was her birthday present and now a waste of money. I guess I need to stick to the other fabric Frisbee's I've bought in the past. Just a warning...not durable for cattle dogs.

  • Durable, easy to throw, and lots of fun!

My German shepherd, Riley, LOVES frisbees. But I can't use the hard plastic ones because he cuts up the inside of his mouth. I tried the kong extreme flyer last summer and he loves it, so when that tore I decided to go with this one instead to see how durable it is. Because of the weather we haven't gotten to test it out too much, but so far it is holding up great! Riley will thrash it around, it gets tossed into trees, caught and chomped on, and besides the mud it looks brand new. Definitely worth the money for hours of play time.

  • Very surprised

I haven't had this for very long but so far it's lasted a day through being the favorite toy since opened. My dogs are very aggressive chewers and tuggers. This frisbee has made it through tugging chomping chewing sessions and some how has no marks what so ever. if it weren't for slobber and dirt this thing still looks new and with my dogs that's very impressive. Also love that it's not too hard yet flies well for being so flimsy and my dogs love that they can shake it/flap it around and bend it just makes them even crazier about this toy.

  • Very tough frisbee toy.

    By on

Our dog loves to chase a frisbee that will fly and then roll on the ground. This Kong flyer is good for that. It is heavy rubber, about 9 inches in diameter. Although it is a bit floppy, it does fly decently and rolls OK, though not as well as some others. But it is the toughest frisbee toy I've come across, after trying quite a few other flying disc toys. It holds up very well to heavy chewing and tugging -- our shepherd routinely destroys supposedly durable toys, but this one has survived. Chewy prices, shipping, and service have been very good, and returns/refunds have been seamless and prompt.

  • Tough & Sturdy

    By on

I wanted to wait to write this review until my dog had played with it quite a bit. We have had many different kinds and brands of frisbees and they always end up destroyed. The most recent one was actually made of a similar material, but a lot thinner and my dog tore it to pieces in less than a minute. This frisbee has held up against my crazy pup and his rough play. I was weary of the Kong brand thinking maybe it was just hype, but this brand is great quality for a great price. This was a good purchase.

  • Great toy but...

    By on

This Kong frisbee is a great toy for any dog. However, my wonderful pooches can be monsters at times, as they ripped apart their last Kong frisbee in a game of tug-of-war. I purchased a new one, thinking it would last about as long as the old one (about 3 months) but they proceeded to tear the new one apart in less than 2 days. The Kong brand itself states on the packaging that "no toy is indestructible", but I suppose I need to look for a brand that's a tad bit more durable... At least for a Border Collie and Corgi that both reeeeeeally want the frisbee...

  • Great for fetch with an Athletic dog

What I love most about these is that they are soft and not hard plastic. My dog won't wait for the frisbee to fall safely on the ground and will jump to catch them and with plastic ones I always flinch when I hear them crack against his face or teeth. Also, I am not the best thrower so these have saved a few windows... My dog (a mini aussie) absolutely loves them and I don't have to worry about him hurting himself. As others have stated this is not the most 'indestructible' frisbee out there, but for my mini aussie (who can chew through a black kong in less than an hour) this has worked great! I have gotten him some other plastic frisbees that he damages just by picking them up. After more What I love most about these is that they are soft and not hard plastic. A few tears that happened because I left them laying around but that is all! They still work great. As Kong says, these are not made to be chewed on. If possible best to put them away after playing. … more

  • MY GSD CARRIES THIS AROUND CONSTANTLY

    By on

This flyer doesn't fly very well, but my German Shepherd loves it. The plastic flyers last only one fly, and bingo she chews on themthen eats what she breaks off. So she loves it and I'm happy its soft because when I step on it I don't fall. Did I say she carries this around constantly? I never know where it's going to be. Thank goodness it's rubber. Oddly, she never has tried to chew it, she only delivers it to me to throw.

  • Not for tugging

    By on

Durable for a single dog, a bit heavy in the air, but if you have a team that plays catch together and tends to tug o war, a bit between fetching and throwing... not a great option in the long run. As an alternative, try the Chuckit! Flying Squirrel. Our Labs love this one, again, not meant to be a tug toy, but it holds up to a little bit of tug o war before they bring it back to us. The squirrel flies really well too.
