Are the bristles really hard or somewhat soft?

These bristles are made from a durable plastic and are rigid. The tips are rounded to massage your cat without harming them.

Does this work on a closed door?

Assuming there is clearance on both sides of the door and the floors on either side are the same level, this would work on a closed door. The doorstop feature slides underneath the base of the door and would stick out on the other side by approximately 2 inches. It would not work on exterior doors that have a seal at the threshold (base).

I purchased one for my son‘s cat, which saved his furniture, and decided to get one for my adopted kitty. She loves it, and as long as it is secure against a hard surface like wall or door, it works perfectly. I highly recommend it for busy households when play time is limited for petting and combing your feline.

Ok, but could be better

Its a good idea in theory, but it slides left and right under the door frame, and doesn't stay put for cat to rub up against it. It might be great if it could be
