Much larger flakes than usual bedding

The package looked very small when it arrived but it covered my entire coop. The flakes were not typical shavings, much larger and thicker. So far they have stayed

The package looked very small when it arrived but it covered my entire coop. The flakes were not typical shavings, much larger and thicker. So far they have stayed in place longer since the chickens have a harder time scratching around in the larger shavings.

Some good spme bad

The bedding was dry, not mildewy, which was great. However the flakes are sharp and scratchy, so not as comfortable.

I no longer want to support the place I used to get these and I was looking for another place where I could find bedding for my chickens. The bag is smaller than the bag I normally buy from the other store but it’s of the same quality and at a good price.

Great for smaller spaces

I normally use the bulk bedding we use for the horse stalls but I decided to try the Fresh Flakes bedding. The bedding is somewhat compressed so it opened up and

I normally use the bulk bedding we use for the horse stalls but I decided to try the Fresh Flakes bedding. The bedding is somewhat compressed so it opened up and filled in the space in their stall (10 x 13) nicely. It smelled clean and fresh and made the coop look much brighter! The girls were a little wary of it at first but their curiosity got the best of them. I liked how the larger flakes buried their mealworms I tossed in there for them - it gave them a bit more forage time and entertainment. After a few days of use, my only issue was the larger flakes (personal preference) which made it harder for me to pick out my coop every evening. The lighter flakes also clogged up their water containers from the girls flying around and kicking up the bedding. Now having said this, I would think this bedding would be best in a small coop or even better, for young chicks that are in a smaller/contained space that you want to keep neat/dry. (Thus the 4* rating) I found it to be absorbent, soft and fluffy and the pleasant smell lasted a couple of days with the hens, I'm thinking it would last quite a while with the young chicks. I would definitely use this for a smaller enclosure or set up with just a couple of chickens.

It took our hen a while before she would even check out these flakes! She has a strong preference for straw and circled the flakes several times before she would even approach them. But once she got brave she got comfy and started sending flakes everywhere as she nestled down into them. And although she may still prefer the straw we very much enjoyed the fresh scent these brought to the coop.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that the 3.5-ft bag of Manna Pro Fresh Flakes chicken bedding was enough to cover our 5x5 small coop with a slightly less than 2-inch layer of flakes. The chickens took to it right away and it smelled fresh and looked great. We would probably buy two bags next time to make the bedding layer a little thicker, but we were pleased with the Manna Pro flakes and would use them again.

This product was surprisingly good. Upon opening the package, I was greeted with a fresh, clean scent. The product was uniform throughout without heavy sticks

This product was surprisingly good. Upon opening the package, I was greeted with a fresh, clean scent. The product was uniform throughout without heavy sticks or other debris type stuff in it. I used this both in my goose and duck pens. The ducks were particularly excited to see the fresh bedding. The day after I put down the shavings it rained and I was expecting compacted, material that I would need to remove. However, the flakes were still fluffy, although damp, and only needed a rake through to refresh them. The sun dried them that day and they were still usable! I will definitely be purchasing more of this for future use. The quality is top tier, the smell divine, and it's made my life easier in the cleanup. Would definitely recommend!

When I received these flakes I opened the bag and put the shavings/flakes in a large container. I was very pleased that the volume was quite large and the flakes

When I received these flakes I opened the bag and put the shavings/flakes in a large container. I was very pleased that the volume was quite large and the flakes were not compressed together. There are a lot of shavings in that medium sized bag. I used the product in my chicken coop and my girls had no issue with it. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the very strong odor they have even in an open container. Almost a chemical smell. Other than that I liked them.
