Do you need oyster shell supplementation if you use this feed?

Answer by ChewyAug 23, 2024
The Waterfowl Layer feed does not need additional oyster shell supplementation, as it has the higher calcium levels built in for laying birds. Providing supplemental oyster shell will not harm the birds, but it is not necessary if the diet is fed as the sole/main source of nutrition for the birds.

Can you feed this all year round?

Answer by ChewyOct 30, 2025
It is recommended to feed this product during the laying season, when birds are actively producing eggs. Once waterfowl are no longer laying, it is suggested to transition to the Maintenance feed to better support their nutritional needs during the off-season. However, for waterfowl that lay eggs year-round, it is perfectly fine to continue giving this feed throughout the year.

Can you feed this to pet turkeys ?

Answer by ChewyJul 30, 2025
This feed is intended for waterfowl.

Is this the correct feed for ducklings/goslings age 3 weeks to 18 weeks? What is the correct feed for that age range?

Answer by ChewyJun 18, 2025
For ducklings and goslings aged 3 to 18 weeks, we recommend starting with Mazuri® Waterfowl Starter until the birds are fully feathered. Once they reach that stage, they can be transitioned to Mazuri® Waterfowl Maintenance. The Mazuri® Waterfowl Layer is specifically formulated for mature, laying birds and is not appropriate for younger, growing waterfowl.

Enclosing box was seriously squashed and bent, but the bag wasn't damaged

Luckily no leaks... This is the first time I tried the 50lb bag. I think I'll go back to the 25lb bags to make it easier on the delivery folks. I never had problems

Luckily no leaks... This is the first time I tried the 50lb bag. I think I'll go back to the 25lb bags to make it easier on the delivery folks. I never had problems with damage to the enclosing boxes with the prior orders of 25lb bags. This duck chow is great, my ducks prefer it over all other chows I've tried.

My girls used to lose so much food in their water I’d dump half of it out with a water change. The food waste since switching to floating feed has been made almost zero. It’s worth the cost difference from the Manna Pro Waterfowl pellets!

Expensive

My ducks love it, but this is expensive, not saying chewy is anymore expensive than everyone else. But geez, other duck food is half the price.

I like this company how this product is made and ingredients are perfect for duckies however from the starter to the layer, they did change the formula. My duckies grew up on starter and could not get enough and when I changed them to this only about half of them eat it. The starter smelled fishy and this smells more processed. Wish they kept the formula the same...

I am happy that I can get things that I can't get locally. I have only been able to find Purina Duck Food in my area. The unfortunate thing is that my ducks and chickens, actually refuse to eat this. So, instead I am trying a different chicken layer food for my ducks to help them get more calcium. Not sure what to do with the matsuri food...
