is this good for a gerbil?

This cage is not suitable for gerbils.

Can a mouse fit in this habitat?

This habitat may not be suitable for a single mouse as the bar spacing is 1/2 inch while mice need a bar spacing of 1/4 at the most.

Is the tubing and all large enough for a male fancy rat?

This cage is not recommended for rats.

How can I tell if my hamster is getting water from the bottle?

The water bottle has a ball at the end which the hamster pushes with their tongue or teeth to get the water. While your hamster is drinking, watch them to see if they are able to do this. While they are drinking, you'll also see an air bubble rise through the water. In time, the water level will lower as well.

Don't use included water bottle

Overall great starter cage however I highly recommend purchasing a better water bottle. The one included, tried using it and realized the tip is always dry and water

Overall great starter cage however I highly recommend purchasing a better water bottle. The one included, tried using it and realized the tip is always dry and water not coming out properly despite much fenageling and trying different things. I seriously hope hamster owners recognize this or your hamster is probably very thirsty.

I would know. Thru a series of unfortunate events I currently have 13 Teddy bear hamsters. So when I say I have tried darn near all reasonable price cages. A couple over$100. This is hands down the Easiest to clean. Easiest to put together. Best all around cage!! I have worked up to having 6 of them now. Giving away the extra cages to a friend. I couldn't be happier with this cage.

Different Experience than Others

We got this cage for our robo hamster because she was regularly escaping from the other cage we had. This things is great! Kind of a pain to put together, but well

We got this cage for our robo hamster because she was regularly escaping from the other cage we had. This things is great! Kind of a pain to put together, but well worth it. The wheel is whisper-quiet, which is amazing because the old wheel in the original cage was unbelievably loud. It took ours several days to go to the upper level, but now she’s up there all the time. The four stars is because the ramps in the upper portion could use with some nubs or friction because she slides down them a lot and has to find other ways to navigate. We did try both sides of the ramps, but that didn’t help.
