how many rats can live in the single story?

The general rule of thumb for rat cage size is at least 2 cubic feet of space per rat. This cage can hold around 3 to 4 rats.
Are the shelves metal or plastic? Our chinchilla chews through the plastic shelves so looking for something more durable

would this be good for my guinea pig

This multi-level cage is not suitable for guinea pigs. While some small animals enjoy climbing on multi-level platforms in the cage, guinea pigs generally prefer flat, open spaces. Guinea pigs tend to be scared of heights, and even a gentle ramp leading up to a second level may be too frightening for a guinea pig to attempt. For a Guinea pig, we carry the ""MidWest Cleo Guinea Pig Cage", the "MidWest Guinea Habitat Guinea Pig Home" and the "MidWest Wabbitat Deluxe Rabbit Home".

Love this!

I think my cage arrived in 2 days, super fast. I got the double critter nation, I love it, my rats love it. It's huge and roomy and so easy to clean. Because of the way the doors open and the trays pull out it makes it so much faster and easier. This cage is heavy and made of good material. I'll probably never have to buy another one. Thank you!

Broken Chinchilla Leg

The ramp provided has no "floor" layer, it is just bars. And these bars are not even close together enough to not get your animal's foot snagged. My poor chinchilla fell victim to this, got his leg snagged and is now limping around. Please if you get this cage, do not let your pet walk on the ramp!

Excellent cage

Just the best. Perfect cage for rats of all sizes. Plenty of opportunities to customize the cage, bars not wide enough for babies to get out of. The front opening doors are probably the best feature, making are and maintenance easy. Nothing wrong with hit at all. Heavy as all heck, but well made. If i could want for anything it would be a deeper bedding tray than what is available.
