We got this enclosure for our chinchilla, the two story version. Upgrading him from a temporary large ferret cage was a night and day difference. The cage itself is super sturdy and well designed. The doors function similar to a cat/dog carrier, and aren't always even to the eye, but they're secure. Assembly took a little bit of common sense know-how to assemble quickly, but when it comes to building enclosures, it was fairly simple and well planned. My biggest complaint is only that the large base pans could fit more flush with the bottom wire. There is a bedding guard you can get (or make, it's quite easy), to hold in bedding (and poop!). Good, but lots of bent pieces

This was one of the best looking cages for Chewy, and I wanted my little ratties to have the best living space possible. When I opened the package, over half the pieces were either warped or bent. Had to gently whack them with a hammer to get them to fit properly. The door also struggles with closing, as the knobs can't fully align with the eyes. It does however still shut securely. The pan also isn't tall enough to hold bedding well, so you'll need to buy or make some guards for that.
Despite all these complaints, the cage is still decent. If you're able to fix these issues this cage would be excellent if you're needing one.
Acceptable, but not great

Taking the pieces out of the box, we noticed several parts that were bent and would not fit together. Tapping the bent pegs with a towel-wrapped hammer solved the problem. Some of the panels are slightly warped, but that didn't seem to affect assembly. The doors do not hang evenly (shown in pictures), and I'm not sure how to fix that. They thankfully do latch properly. Overall, the cage is acceptable and will do the job. I just expected better quality given the price and the reputation.
Great Except For

My ferret is an escape artist and it was time he got a new cage. This cage is sturdy, made with close bars and heavy metal (not that cheap stuff that bends easily). My only complaints with this product are that it is small, meaning we have to kneel to get the ferret out, and putting the sides into the cage was difficult. It has to slide into these holes, and it wouldn’t go in at first until I beat it down with my shoe. So it would be easiest to build with two people, and keep a rubber mallet handy.
worth it anyway

I agree with others in that when it arrived some of the metal pieces were bent. Had it not been for that, it would’ve snapped together in 20 min. But I had to hammer the parts to get them to fit so it ended up being about three hours! However the cage is great for my rats. My only regret is that I did not get the double. It’s escape proof and easy on their feet.
Love it. But lots of hammering

I had to take a hammer and bend the prongs back into the places they needed to be. It's a wonderful cage. But took me hours of hammering. Definitely recommend if u don't mind beating it with a hammer to get it together
Cage needs some work

I would not recommend. The cage itself is well made and beautiful. The problem I have is the pans are very shallow. I can't keep the bedding inside the cage. When my guinea pigs goes potty it all goes onto the floor. I love the looks of the case but hate the design of the pans.

I'm feeling frustrated. I bought the double story in advance as a gift for my fiance's birthday. We can't even construct the first story because the wire from the bottom panel extends way too far so we can't connect the side panel to the cage. Now we have to figure out a way to trim the wire so so can make it fit which is extra money I shouldn't have to spend.
Love, Love, LOVE!

Hands down the best cage. I hope to buy another one in the future. Super easy to clean, lots of space for climbing, beds, litter boxes, etc...Just an all-around perfect cage.

The photo shows what must be a new design. The panels drop into the square holes to complete the base, just like how the rest of the cage is built. I really liked this and wanted this design because the old design uses bolts to connect the base. Well, the cage I received uses the bolts. Half of them wouldn't screw in all the way no matter how much I fought with it so the whole thing is rickety now. Also, my plan was to connect two of them side by side, which I can't do because of how much the bolts stick out. But it's too heavy to return and wouldn't know how to ensure I received the correct design next time anyway so I guess I'll just have to find a way to rig this one to work for me.
