How much does the Large crate weigh?
Answer by QueenBeeZJan 15, 2023
35 pounds

What is the difference between the I crate and life stage crate by MidWest.
Answer by ChewyJan 18, 2018
Some iCrate Models (1518 - 1536) are narrower and lower than the Life Stages crates. The Wire Grid is closer together on the iCrate Models, while the Life Stages crate's Bars are closer together. If you're looking for a  lighter product, then the iCrate models are for you. If you prefer a stronger product and don't mind the extra weight, the Life Stages models are for you.

What is the outter length and width of the 48-inch crate?
Answer by ChewyDec 12, 2017
The length of the 48 inch crate is 48 inches and the width is 30 inches.

What are the weights of these crates? (I am particularly interested in size 24-inch). Thank you.
Answer by ChewyJan 16, 2018
The 22-inch crate weighs approximately 12 pounds, the 24-inch crate weighs approximately 18 pounds, the 30-inch crates weighs approximately 25 pounds, the 36-inch crates weighs approximately 33 pounds, the 42-inch crates weighs approximately 42 pounds, and the 48-inch crates weighs approximately 48 pounds.

Great cage for a budget

I purchased this cage for my cat. Poor little guy fell and broke his leg and the vet said keep him in a crate so I bought a large crate with a side door to put the litter box in a smaller crate off to the side. Little guy is doing great and loves the extra room.

they keep getting better

I've bought a few over the years. They keep improving the models. This was the best one yet. Safer, easier to setup, easier to clean. I still have all my old ones in the attic- they are all still in great condition. I only bought this one because I needed a new size.

Very sturdy crate

On a recommendation from the breeder, I bought a 36" crate for my 3 month old Golden Retriever. It came from a local big box pet store. It was light and flimsy and in 1 month, too small for my rapidly growing puppy. I wanted a more substantial crate, so got a 42" MidWest LifeStages and I'm very pleased with it. The wire is much thicker and the crate is much heavier. Oh and it was $30 less than what I'd paid for the smaller, flimsier one.

Just what I needed for my two new puppies!

I purchased this crate for two puppies who will grow to be 40 lbs. each. I went ahead and got the XL so I wouldn't have to buy more than one. :) The crate is easy to assemble and works just as described. I do wish the door hinges could be reversible somehow as I'd love to have it open the other way given our setup, but it's no big deal. Also, a word of advice ... we ended up purchasing a bumper pad elsewhere to wrap around the inside as one of our puppies got her open jaw stuck on the corner when being active inside. She was fine, thankful her unusual welp sound got our attention quickly. I'm guessing as they grow, this won't be an issue. I wouldn't knock off a star for this, just giving advice to puppy owners. :)

Great sized crate

Crate is a great size for our two pups who love to stay together. Be sure to read the instructions FIRST before assembling. I recommend this crate!

Simple and sturdy

This crate is great. It's got a divider to use when the puppy is small and then remove as they grow. Easy to set up.

Great crate!

I ordered this crate for my Great Dane puppy. It was heavy but easy to put together. The divider was a bit tricky but my daughter was able to crawl in the crate and get it together. Very happy with my purchase!

Roomy and secure

We purchased this large crate for our 45 lb. border collie. She is active but seems satisfied and comfortable in this crate while we are at work. Plenty of room to stretch out and play with her toys.

Midwest does not value their customers

I ordered 2 XXL life stages dog crates 1 came with these red slip on covers for the latches on the door and the other one did not. I reached out to Midwest and they gave me a run a round and would not send replacement. Tried to brush it off as a mistake that the latch covers was not supposed to have come with the crates These cages were expensive and to not send the latch covers for the other crate is a cheap shot at the customer Makes me think they would not replace the crates had they come damaged Poor customer service Do not recommend this brand

Great Crate recommend upsize

I bought the Frisco 30 inch crate and it’s a really beautiful crate but I kind a like the bigger crates so my dogs would jump and they hit their head on it so I upsized to this Midwest lifestyles 36 inch and it’s really nice it’s a similar quality to the Frisco and It’s a little bit bigger (6”) I bought a nice soft 3 inch memory foam bed for it and the Midwest water bowl that attaches to the side, it’s a really nice set up. It arrived three days after I ordered it on a Saturday so that’s really cool it arrived in perfect condition. One of the little wire hooks was a little bit off, so I just put a screw driver in there and opened it up a little bit. No big deal I didn’t notice any sharp edges when I put it together. It’s heavy, but if I had a really strong dog I would go for the heaviest duty crate that they sell but I didn’t want to spend all that extra money for my little min pins. Yes, I have a 15 inch dog and a 36 inch crate but sometimes they sleep together. And I like to have the extra room so that there’s room for the water bowl and the blankets don’t go in it. It’s nice and sturdy. It’s heavy and well constructed the paint is high quality and the doors work great. I’m really happy with it and I recommend it. For a pitbull I go ahead and get the ultra or the extra heavy duty Frisco crate so you have thicker wire. Highly recommended. Also highly recommend buying from Chewy. Chewy has exceptional customer service. They’re the best store to buy pet supplies from. I can walk to a mainstream pet store but Chewy has lower prices and better selection. Plus the people that answer the phone are super nice.
