First of all, the sizing is off. I bought this as a second crate for our dog and pulled the dimensions straight from his current crate to buy this one. It’s much shorter in height and a little in length. Luckily his previous crate is a bit big for him. Second, I had to pry one of the hooks on the crate into the right position to even open it up, which must be a quality control issue. It was such a pain to fix. But it’s sturdy enough.
I bought the 48" cage for my German Shepherd puppy to grow into and it's great so far after a few months. The divider is pretty easy to adjust and perfect for the growing stages. Cage is hefty, but durable and the plastic tray is easy to clean and remove. Fortunately, my dog doesn't chew on the cage or dig that much in there, but I can see this cage lasting her lifetime at this point. It's pretty easy to collapse and move as well, we'll see how it goes in the next year when she's close to full-size (will amend my review if anything changes by that time).
We got this kennel for our growing standard poodle. I'm glad I went with the largest size they had. She's been great in it so far. The set up is so simple and quick! I love that you can slide the bottom out as needed and the locking mechanism is easy and not noisy at all. Our last crate was very squeaky and scary to our puppy. This one has been great.
I like this cage from a sturdiness standpoint. My pups however very early on started removing the rubber cushioning parts and chewing them up. The parts in question are a rubber cylinder that is hollow in the center and has a slit where they are pushed onto the metal framing at places. The problem is that they are not sealed on at all and quite easy for a pup to pull off, which is dangerous in my opinion as they then chew the rubber parts and possibly swallow.
The Midwest icrate double door 42 inch is perfect for my growing puppy. It was easy to set-up and is very sturdy. Depending on what room and door size of the room, you will want to set it up where you intend to keep it. I put a 40 inch orthopedic dog bed in the crate and ZOE absolutely LOVES IT! She is comfortable and stretches out so easily. She sleeps through the night now. I would recommend this to all dog owners. This crate may be the only one I need to purchase even as she grows to adulthood.
It’s hard to describe (got pixel dimensions error when tried to upload picture) but basically the hook was latched over a panel that it wasn’t supposed to be hooked onto (only on 1 side, other side ok). This prevented the crate from expanding. Was able to correct it with pliers, but had to tape up the resulting sharp edges/damage to the coating. Crate is now ok and no replacement needed, but it was a hassle.
Purchased for our cat to travel with us and not be in a small carrier. Put together in family room and threw a towel in so he could sniff around the cage and get used to it and he walked into the cage and went to sleep. I think the cage is going to work out perfectly since the cat sleeps in it everyday now.
This is a nice quality crate. I love having the 2 doors, so if you put it in the car or in a corner you have options for where they enter/exit. The divider it comes with was very helpful when my puppy was smaller and made crate training easier.
The measurements of this crate are not accurate. They are off by two inches on each measurement. If you purchase the crate, you definitely want to get the next size up to account for this inaccurate measurement.
I recently purchased the MidWest iCrate Fold & Carry Double Door Collapsible Wire Dog Crate and it has been nothing short of wonderful. First off, its double-door design offers my pet the flexibility to enter or exit from either side, enhancing comfort and accessibility. Not only is the wire structure durable, but it also provides optimal ventilation, ensuring my dog is comfortable, safe, and content. It's fantastic to have peace of mind knowing he's in a well-ventilated crate that mimics the openness of a den. The crate's fold-and-carry configuration makes it a breeze to transport, whether it's a weekend trip or a visit to the vet. This feature, combined with its light weight, makes it a dream for people who are constantly on the go. Another highlight is its ease of assembly. There are no complicated instructions or additional tools required. The process is intuitive, quick, and hassle-free. Lastly, the pan at the bottom is not only leak-proof but also removable, making cleanup remarkably convenient. Even with regular use, it's stayed in great condition, which speaks volumes about its quality. All in all, the MidWest iCrate Fold & Carry Double Door Collapsible Wire Dog Crate is a five-star product offering great value for the price. It's reliable, versatile, and seems to have thought of everything a pet owner could possibly need. An absolute recommend for anyone in search of a high-quality dog crate!
