wONDERING DO THEY MAKE IT SPECIAL FOR DOGS TOO,,,MY BIRD TIMNEH AFRICAN GREY JUST LOVES THIS STUFF, HE EATS IT RIGHT UP , MUST REALLY BE WHAT THE DR OR BIRD ORDERED...LOL
I added this to my 40 year old yellow nape’s diet because he was having a difficult time molting. My avian vet said that can happen as they age because they aren’t able to utilize nutrients in their diet as well as when they are young. He is now going through his molts with no problems. His feathers are beautiful and he seems healthy. As for those who comment on the ingredients being “bad” you should do your homework. There are many types of yeast. This yeast is not “bad” it is a dietary source that provides B vitamins. Beef liver is the best source of vitamin A on the planet and birds need vitamin A to be healthy. I do not hesitate to suggest this product when I get an opportunity.
I rescued a featherless in Conure in January of 2022. I've been sprinkling this on her food for about a week now. It's too soon to know if it's helping but I can say that she likes it. I was skeptical when I first opened it and saw it was a very fine powder because I thought it would just go to the bottom of her food dish. That's now what I've experienced though. She actually eats the powder as soon as I sprinkle it. I also do her fruit treats in it and that works well too. Very good stuff. I recommend it to any bird that needs help with feathers.
When my cockatiel was having digestion problems and occasionally vomiting, my avian doctor recommended “Missing Link” on his seeds. Also, “Doctor Harvey’s Organic Cockatiel Food,” which can be purchased on line and kept in the refrigerator. I have noticed a difference in his feathers and eyes being brighter. That was 5 years ago and no health problems since.
This is a wonderful supplement for Toucan or exotic birds.
I do not recommend these at all. I bought this for my birds and the kelp dog one and kelp cat one for my dogs and cats. I wish I didnt buy any of these, its cost me a fortune in vet fees. I sprinkled this on their seeds; half my seed addicted birds wouldnt touch their seeds, the birds that did eat this became sluggish and started sleeping a lot. After taking them to the vet in fear of an infection of some kind, tests came back clear and the only new thing in their environment was this product. I stopped using it and a couple days later all the birds were back to normal chirping and flying around their room. My dogs and cats also became sick after using missing link products.
I can't judge it yet. Just started it and at only 1/8 tsp. a day, it should take awhile to see any effect. Why I only give a 3 because I just don't know yet.
One of the Best Avian Vets in my city recommended this supplement for my Firefinch that was going bald 2 weeks ago along with some medicine. If he recommends it, so do I. The medicine reversed the balding and am hoping this helps keep it from happening again. I'm giving it to my other 6 African finches, My Caique, Sun Conure, Canary, 2 lovebirds, parakeet and Cockatiel.
I’ve been using this stuff for years for my birds and they look healthy and when they go to see the vet they tell me their healthy too.
I have several parrots, cockatoos, african greys, conures, and parrolets. The bigger parrots are all over 20 yrs old The sun conure 27, the cockatoo 28 yrs old. They were beginning to look a little lack luster. Colors werent as bright, some sparse feathering. Picking on the chest and shoulders a bit. I decided to sprinkle this onto all of their dry seed mixture. Although birds do not have saliva, they like this grainy powder. I see them eat it. It has truly been a remarkable difference over a 3 month period. The plumage on the sun conure is like he was 3 again. Vibrant colors and thick. The cockatoo is lush and bright white looking. No more ragged edges. Smooth. They all like it. I really see a difference and I feel good that my old friends are getting the best supplements possible. I like it better than water vitamins. My birds mess up their water a lot and waste the water vitamins. Inexpensive. Easy to sprinkle on food. I don't even measure. A couple of pinches depending on who's bowl it is. Even the tiny parrotlet eats it. I couldnt be happier with the very obvious, positive, results.
