About Modesto Milling

Modesto Milling was established in 1974 as a dairymen’s co-op. In 1997, a group of local dairymen convinced the Board of Directors to start manufacturing organic dairy grain mixes. By January 1998, Modesto Milling gained its organic certification from Oregon Tilth of Salem, Ore. They became the first organic grain processor in Central California, and ever since, Modesto Milling has been manufacturing high quality organic feed for many different types of livestock.

Don’t buy

Bought this for an organic, soy free, corn free feed. There is corn in it. Whole kernels. Also, I found feathers and rocks in the bag as well. I spend about 10 minutes

Bought this for an organic, soy free, corn free feed. There is corn in it. Whole kernels. Also, I found feathers and rocks in the bag as well. I spend about 10 minutes picking through the feed before I can give it. Don’t buy, not as advertised. This is the third bag I’ve had this issue with. The organic horse supplement pellets are a much better option.

Out of stock for unknown time

Love the food, extremely dislike the limited supply. Modesto has this product in stock, however chewy has been out of stock for weeks. When I called customer service

Love the food, extremely dislike the limited supply. Modesto has this product in stock, however chewy has been out of stock for weeks. When I called customer service they told me there is no way to contact the chewy warehouse department to even find out if any is ordered. This is poor management by Chewy and I would actually rate the feed itself as 5 stars if it were consistently available. I am running out of feed and need to switch because Chewy cannot tell me when it will be available. Modesto has said this is entirely up to Chewy to put in orders.

Great feed

So happy to have found a gmo free and organic feed as we eat the same way. I live in KY and over the past year have struggled to find a feed mix I like as most either have too much sugar or are pelleted where you can’t actually see what is in it. I have a yearling Andalusian filly who is rather picky too and I was pleased she likes this. She is a super easy keeper so I feed her very little of it. I also dampen it down as it is quite dusty ( I assume from the vitamins). Since she has been on it, even though she is pretty quiet, she has settled to the point of being an old horse in a young body. After a week on this feed, she doesn’t look twice at anything and has turned into even more of a relaxed girl. Her coat is also super shiny. Love this feed.

Amazing horse feed

I have a senior horse who is extremely picky about his grain. He has never been the biggest grain eater, as he prefers his hay to grain. We've been struggling

I have a senior horse who is extremely picky about his grain. He has never been the biggest grain eater, as he prefers his hay to grain. We've been struggling to find something he likes. We've had him for 23 years, so the struggle has been real. We found this grain on Chewy and ordered a bag. We've been looking for an organic grain and one with no molasses, so this met our requirements. He absolutely loves this grain and licks it up every meal. He has never done this in his life. It's so nice to find an Organic grain with no molasses and no soy that my horse loves and does great on. He's putting on weight and has more energy. I absolutely recommend this grain.
