The amounts in the table are intended as guidelines only. The food intake should be adjusted according to the age, weight and activity of your dog. It is important for your dog's health to maintain a proper body weight. Consult a veterinarian for specific weight recommendations. Puppies, and Pregnant or Nursing Females, require 2 - 3 times the Adult amounts. A reduction in food intake is recommended for less active and older dogs. Serve at room temperature. Any unused portion should be covered and refrigerated. Fresh clean water should be available at all times!
When switching your pet's diet, we recommend transitioning from the current diet to any new Natural Balance Formula over a 5 - 7 day period.
Day 1 - 2: 25% Natural Balance Formula, 75% Current Pet Formula Day 3 - 4: 50% Natural Balance Formula, 50% Current Pet Formula Day 5 - 6: 75% Natural Balance Formula, 25% Current Pet Formula Day 7: 100% Natural Balance Formula
If you do not have any of your current formula to mix, reduce the amount of formula fed for the first few days, feeding smaller more frequent meals over time. If your pet is more sensitive to change, please allow 10 - 14 days to fully transition onto the new formula.
Feeding formulas with limited ingredients is a great way to minimize their exposure to ingredients. Limited ingredient formulas have a restricted number of protein and carbohydrate sources.
Food trials on a limited ingredient diet should take place over at least 12 weeks using a novel protein and carbohydrate source that the pet has not had before. No other treats or food items should be fed during these first twelve weeks.
Pets that can benefit from a limited ingredient diet should not have unsupervised access to human foods, garbage, or outdoor areas where they can ingest plants.

I just found a small pice about 2cm x 2cm of tree bark in one of the cans that I was just about to give to my dog! I wouldn’t find it if I wasn’t mixing in his cancer medicine. It wasn’t too hard, I could brake it, but still hard for a stomach that is in need of ‘limited ingredients’, I washed it to be shure what is it exactly. I will call manufacturer but decided to do this first here. This is unacceptable!
It's great for my dog and she loves it, but the variation in texture between cans is almost comical. Sometimes it's a paté, other times you could literally pour it out of the can into her dish and that makes it hard to measure a portion. I really wish Natural Balance could work out their formula.
My 11 year-old schnauzer has had chronic pancreatitis for the past 3 years. Her food options are super limited. The prescription food was over priced and had terrible ingredients. I was so excited to find this one! The ingredients are better and the fat content is low enough for her! A win win!!
Tried this brand to see if grain-free and limited ingredients would help with my dog's skin allergies. Seems to have made a slight difference in the amount of itching but the true value seems to be in how much my picky eater really likes this stuff. I would recommend it for anyone to try with their picky eaters or allergic dogs and see if it helps.
I was trying to find a new food for my guys, but this is not the one. One of my guys will eat it if he can't get anything else, but it's not the food for the other guys. I've decided to try homemade food. They are really picky, perhaps they are spoiled.
My Shitzu had red, itchy skin since she was 2 yrs old. I was in the vet office every month for a steroid shot and a refill of her pills that I had to give her daily. I cringed at what all this was doing to her kidney's and how it was shortening her life. I needed a better option. I changed her to a grain free diet. I mix the wet food with the dry food and after being on this grain free LID food noticed a difference after a few short months. My girl is healthy and off of the shots and the pills now!
My dogs won't eat this even when they're is nothing else to eat. I think the texture is weird.
This food was great for a long time for our dog who seems to have a sensitive stomach. Recently a few cases have had very different consistency and my dog had been having tummy troubles again.
My dog doesn’t prefer this. When I feed him he won’t eat it. Not enough gravy or moisture in it.
I read two reviews complaining of this food and it’s consistency being watery. There is a reason for that watery consistency… because easily digestible food is needed for dogs with stomach issues. My dog recently had intestinal surgery, gallbladder removal and a liver biopsy all in one operation. She is a very picky eater and very gassy by nature. This food was the only food she could digest other than the hills prescription but she hated the hills. This food is working to keep her hydrated while allowing her to heal through a very difficult operation. Highly recommend for a dog that has digestion issues because it is soft which makes it easy to digest. My picky eater loves this food.
