My dog has severe allergies. We've used this food for a few years but I think the formula changed recently. She started having a flare up that wouldn't go away. I did a comparison with the ingredient list from when I had her allergy test done to the ingredients on the bag that I purchased in December. The ratios are definitely different, so we had to switch to a different brand completely.

We are trying to find a chicken free dog food for our goldendoodle, but she must be a picky eater, becuase she won't eat this brand of food. We tried giving it to our other dogs, that don't have a chicken allergy, but they don't care for it either.

I adopted a German Shepherd dog, whose name is now moose at five years old. I was told he had a sensitive stomach and to feed him good food for sensitive stomachs. Long story short, I tried natural balance, lamb, and brown rice formula and it’s fabulous. He went from pooping four times a day large poos.. now he poos twice a day ordinary size poos. Plus, he was skinny when we got him ribs sticking out.. not anymore! Not sure if we need to continue giving him probiotics because the food seems to be doing a job. I haven’t tried cutting them out yet.. anyhow, if you have similar issues with your dog, I say go for it. This is great food. My only wish is that the kibbles were a little bigger, otherwise it’s fabulous. Good luck.

Upon opening the bag and transferring it to my steel bin there was no odd odour. It smelled like good clean food. My dogs liked it immediately. There was no letting it sit in the bowl for hours and hours. They started eating it immediately. The kibble bits are just the right size for my two different size dogs. I have 2 100 lbs. shepherds and 2 60-80 lbs mixed breeds with much smaller jaws. The kibble size is just right for both. So far, we have used the beef and rice and the salmon and something. I have ordered the lamb and rice. Despite rotating flavours, we have not had any big GI upset which is quite common with German Shepherds. I think this is probably due to the purity of the food. I gave it four stars though because I was quite surprised to see canola oil in it. However, every food that I have gone through which I go through every ingredient has canola oil in it. every single Food I have reviewed. I cannot go above $3 a pound as I am feeding 350+ pounds of DOG.!!! But I would much rather not see canola oil in my dog food.

Good food.

Seems good quality and my boys eat it up. Switched to this from a higher protein kibble and it’s helping to decrease tear staining on fur.

Good product, bad batch on Chewy

Have had my dog on this exact food for months, then got this larger bag from Chewy and it immediately gave my dog food poisoning the next morning. 0/10.

Natural Balance is on a short list of dog food approved by my veterinarian. I read that Bostons also tend to be very sensitive to chicken, and grain-free kibble can cause problems, too. Natural Balance Beef & Brown Rice has been our go-to for a few years now, and Bucky's coat has been so shiny, and I've never had problems with his poops while he's on it. We've tried salmon in a pinch, and he likes that too, but with the beef, I'll even put a handful of the kibble in his treat ball and he thinks he's getting treats out of it, not his normal kibble. We'll keep buying this for as long as they continue to make it.
