Will it work without the Wi-Fi?

Answer by DianaDec 28, 2025
Yes. I did not hook it up to Wi-Fi and it still empties automatically

What type of kitty litter must be used with this cat box?

Answer by ChewyApr 23, 2025
This automatic cat litter box effectively handles clumping or scoopable waste. However, it's incompatible with highly absorbent, non-clumping, loosely clumping, newspaper, or wood pellet litters. The litter box's maximum filter sifts particles up to 3 mm in diameter and 10 mm in length. We recommend using fast-clumping, non-strip, granular litter like bentonite cat litter or mineral sand. When using the litter bin for the first time, you need to add about 5~6 kg of cat litter. Ensure the litter fills within the scale range, avoiding exceeding 100% or falling below 50% of the scale capacity.

Is this the M1 or the recently updated “M1 Plus”?

Answer by ChewyNov 09, 2025
This is the M1 Plus model.

Are there stairs made by the maker of this product?

Answer by ChewyMay 08, 2025
At this time, the ramp step is available directly through the manufacturer's website.

I didn't even want to give this one star. We ordered this $400 litter box from Chewy and this is what came in the mail. The box it was shipped in still had the label from the previous purchaser. They didn't even open the returned litter box and inspect it before slapping another label on it and shipping to us. This rating is not about the product but Chewy. I would not recommend anyone buy from them, I certainly will not be in the future. They not only sent me a product in this condition but did nothing to protect the information of their other customer. I was going to post a picture of the label but did not want to put the other customers information on the internet.

I have 5 cats and I've always adhered to the "one more litter box than the number of cats" rule. And one of my cats is fastidious about the cleanliness of the litter box. She will pee outside the box if she doesn't have a clean litter box. As a result, I had to scoop 6 litter boxes each day and between my back and breathing in all the dust when sifting the litter, I needed to find another way. I had previously purchased a LR4 but my cats didn't like the enclosed space so I purchased an M1 to see if the cats would use it and happily they did! It went so well that I purchased 3 more. It is so much nicer to be able to just remove the bag from the drawer every 3 or 4 days. No dust and really quite nice not having to scoop every day. The M1 enclosures do get dirty--I do a deep clean (take outside and hose it down) every 4-5 months but I keep Clorox wipes near the M1 (I have them in 3 different areas of my house) and quickly wipe down the enclosure as needed. I did use some hacks to make the M1 better, including purchasing a stainless steel bin and applying self adhesive pile/felt weatherstripping for better odor control. These were quick and easy hacks that greatly improved the M1.

I bought this because the purmax that is enclosed didnt work for my elderly cat who pees at the edges. This didnt work either. He pees a lot being 16 yrs old i ended up with litter down the back wall and smushed all the way around it. He pees in the front corners. So back to look for another option before going back to a traditional one.

I wanted to share my thoughts on the product. I really like it overall, but I do have one complaint. The front opening part is positioned too low, which causes some issues. When my cat cleans itself and covers its pee or poop, the sand tends to spill out, creating a bit of a mess.

Had it for about 7 months and now it kicks errors saying the bin is full when it’s not, it dumps massive amounts of CLEAN litter into the waste bin instead of sifting the waste free of the clean litter. Before having the sensor replaced, it would stay in the cleaning position which prevented the cats from entering. It also dumps clumps of waste behind the machine onto the floor! It malfunctions like nothing I’ve ever seen. It now needs a motor replaced, after replacing sensors and magnets. It’s now completely inoperable.

I read and watched several reviews before selecting this device. I'm very satisfied with the machine. It has been a life changing investment. 1. Very easy to clean 2. Not very messy 3. Only need to vacuum the sand around (Situation improved with adding a step for the cats to come out.) 4. Reliable. No functional issues. Notifications are reliable too. 5. Great app with all the information. 6. Perfect for 2 cats. The bag is full every week and a half. 7. The cats feel safe, as it does not cover fully, when it rotates. 8. The stickers that are provided with it works fine. Would be great to have a few additional ones, because if the cats are too curious, they can easily take it off.

Well from what i can tell this cat box is really good. The model they sell on chewy here is the m1 plus which is the one you want. I definitely recommend this cat

Well from what i can tell this cat box is really good. The model they sell on chewy here is the m1 plus which is the one you want. I definitely recommend this cat box. I tested the safety features and they all work great. The weighing capability is really nice cause it can tell the difference between my cats. Overall its a great cat box. Much better than anything else out there even for more money.

I’ve had this litter box for 3 1/2 weeks and I’m already having problems with it. First, the things I really like about it: 1) It’s so much easier to clean than my previous brand of automatic litter box that is enclosed. 2) My cats seemed to like it, with one taking to it within seconds of putting fresh litter in it. The open design was nice. 3) It is a lot quieter than my previous one and takes up less space. 4) Naekasa support has been wonderful with quick response times and sent a part for me to replace. The problems of the machine are as follows and ultimately the reason I am returning it. 1) The door that is supposed to open and close when dumping the waste stopped working immediately. It is stuck open. It isn’t a huge deal because in the end, it’s not the reason I bought the machine, but was a desirable bonus. Naekasa support has been really responsive and sent me a new motor for the doors. It didn’t fix the problem. 2) If you have a cat that stands to pee or likes to spray, it goes over the side and sprays the surrounding walls, floors and anything that is next to it. It drips down the outside of the litter box and I have to clean it daily. 3) Litter clumps get stuck on the outside of the unit when dumping. Instead of dropping into the waste bin they stick to the outside and drop to the floor. This is ultimately why I contacted customer support. They thought it could be because the waste door is stuck open. However, I don’t think so because where the clumps get stuck is on the outer sides beyond the waste hole. (See pictures). These clumps don’t fall into the waste bin but instead get stuck next to the hole annd get smeared all over. After reading other reviews, others have had the same issue. I really really liked it at first but with my male cat spraying the sides and then the waste clumps that fall to the floor, I can’t keep it.

They work but need improvement

Our cattery has purched 2 of these as a set. Within the first month on of them had a motor failure, support was quick to send a motor and it was very easy to change

Our cattery has purched 2 of these as a set. Within the first month on of them had a motor failure, support was quick to send a motor and it was very easy to change. The app could use some work, it needs to tell you a percentage for the waste bin otherwise it just randomly tells you it's full. Being an open design the cats do kick out a lot of litter and make a mess. Overall they work and they are well used in our cattery, customer support it's pretty decent.
