Hello! I didn't realize I have not been refrigerating this product for my dog. Is it still safe to use and give her after opening even though I have not been refrigerating as recommended?

While the liquid products should be refrigerated and consumed within 90 days once opened, if left out for a short period of time there is no harm. It is more important to consume the product within the 90 days. If it's been unrefrigerated for a few weeks/month or more it may have lost some of its efficacy. Also ensure that it's not exposed to direct sunlight and temperatures above 80 Fahrenheit for a prolonged period of time.
What percentage of mercury is present? All fish have mercury in them today...even in human grade. I would be nice if they disclosed the percentage.

All oils used in Nordic Naturals products show no detectable heavy metals when tested down to the Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega–3 (GOED) and Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) standard of 0.1ppm. For example, results for mercury show results of 0.01ppm which is ten times below these standards!
Is this product mercury free or batch tested?

These supplements are simply human pharmaceutical-grade quality fish oils, manufactured and purified exactly the same but without rosemary extract and flavoring. These two ingredients are not teste safe for pet digestions so it is not added thus making it high-quality fish oils safe for pets.

This supplement contains 736 milligrams of EPA and 506 milligrams of DHA per 1 teaspoon (5 mL).

Great Omega-3 Supplement for Larger Dogs with Degenerative Joint Disease

This is a great Omega-3 supplement for my 95-lb. 3-year old golden retriever who was recently diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I know, right?!? A 3-year old dog with osteoarthritis?? We were devastated! Our vet recommended 5,250mg/day of Omega-3 to help reduce inflammation and pain. This Nordic Naturals product is highly rated, is from a reputable brand, and comes in a large size if you have to give a large dose daily. It's made in the U.S.A. and comes in a dark glass bottle, which is another quality feature when purchasing an Omega-3 or any fish oil supplement. My only complaint, which I've seen from other reviews, is that this product doesn't come with a metered pump for easy dispensing. When measuring, the product can drip down the side of the bottle and get messy.

No pump and a messy pour

I haven’t had enough time to observe if this is working for my dog, but it’s incredibly frustrating that this does not come with a pump to pump the fish oil out. Since there is no pump, I have to pour it out of the bottle which ALWAYS results in a mess and ALWAYS wastes fish oil since it pours down the side of the bottle each time. I consistently need to clean the bottle after each use and fear it will eventually smell from the fish oil spilling down the side. I tried looking for a pump to buy with this and haven’t had luck. So now I need to look elsewhere for a pump that will work.

We like this BUT

Have had both dogs on this for about a year and their coats seem to be shiny, digestive issues are down, and they both like it, but WOW do they need to redesign the top of this thing. One small pour and it’s leaking down the bottle. I have to wipe down the bottle with soapy water at least once a week, if not more. And the nature of fish oil is that, ya know, it stinks. Anything they can do to make the top more user friendly would be great.

Love it

My pet loves this supplement. Her skin is healthier, less shedding and shinier coat and paw licking and scratching reduces a significant amount.

Great stuff!

My vet recommended this for a couple of my senior dogs with health issues, and at first I bought a different brand. It worked well, but when the bottle was almost empty I decided to go with the original recommendation and ordered this one. What a difference! The dogs absolutely love it (and it's very good for them).

Promising product

My 9.5 year old large breed dog started having issues with her back leg/limping/shorter walks. I purchased this to combine with the Cosequin HA. She is no longer limping and we are working on increasing her mileage again. I am really hopeful that this product will work to keep her active for a long time. I wish there was a pump in order to not lose product each time I pour it to measure for her weight. It would also be easier than needing to travel with a measuring spoon. For the cost I hope the manufacturer considers an easier way to dispense the product. However, if it works, I will use it in whatever format it comes in.

Nordic Naturals for coat and itching

I put this oil in my dog's food and after several days, he no longer scratches or chews on his paws. Plus his coat looks shinier. Worth every penny!

The only Omega-3 to buy!

I use the human version of this and have had great successes. As my dog is now 8, and with concerns about arthritis as well as dry skin and itching, I wanted to try and add an omega supplement to his diet. The only issue is, he’s incredibly picky! Pills are always an issue - he sorts them out from his food and fights being pilled. Pill pockets are simply a treat and he spits the pill back out. I’ve tried other omega oils, but he didn’t seem to like the strong fishy smell and taste, even the expensive and high quality brands! That is, until this. Sure, Nordic Naturals is more expensive, but now he doesn’t want his breakfast or dinner unless there is oil added! It doesn’t have a strong fish odor, even if you get it on your hands. My only complaint would be that it’s hard to pour from the bottle and not overpour. If in the market for an omega supplement, this is the one!
