Can this product withstand freezing and reheating once added to food?

Answer by ChewyAug 30, 2022
While not harmful, Nordic Naturals fish oils should not be frozen. Freezing does not prolong the efficacy or expiration date. The liquids, once opened, should be refrigerated and consumed within 90 days. Nordic Naturals fish oils should also not be heated, as it can reduce the efficacy and accelerate oxidation. The liquid fish oils should be kept in the fridge and the appropriate serving (based on the pet's weight) should be added to the pet's food or water at the time of serving.

When pouring out of the bottle, it seems to drip down the side and can make a mess. Any suggestions?

Answer by ChewyJan 03, 2021
A dropper or feeding syringe may be used to dispense this supplement.

High Quality Fish Oil

When shopping for fish oils, I look for the following: - Type of fish used in the oil and where from - Purity/potency testing of product - Storage container type for the product - Somewhat reasonable pricing Nordic Naturals checks all the boxes for me with the fish they use (wild caught), batch testing, and stored in a blue glass container, which is the best you can use for oils. Pricing is a bit on the higher side but that’s expected with this quality of product. I wait for sales to stock up and can get it for a better pricing. I take 1 star off though, because as a lot of other users have mentioned, the dispensing sucks, and I feel like a lot of fish oil gets wasted because it drips down the side after pouring. So until they fix that, I give this 4-Stars. Oh, last note, I alternate the cod liver oil with the omega 3 oil since cod liver is high in vitamin an and d, which are fat soluble, meaning they’re stored in the body. High levels stored in the body can result in toxicity so just keep that in mind when using.

High Quality Supplement

Both the vet and the animal chiropractor recommended this for our arthritic 14-year-old dog. It's helped him feel better. One thing to note: you must refrigerate

Got for my hound dog to keep her skin and coat healthy. She is 8 and a half now so I only give a light drizzle with dinner but it’s perfect for her needs. Doesn’t upset her stomach at all which is great. I have to be honest though, she already scarfs her food down no matter what’s in it, even if that is nothing so it’s hard to say if she likes it even more. Fish anything is her favorite so I can only assume it’s 2 paws up. One mild complaint is that the oil drips down the bottle every time I get some out but most bottles of oil do that.

We have been using this - adding this to Miss Maples's hard food to entice her to eat her kibble. Usually we have to 'add' to her food- cheese, yogurt-for her to eat. This addition not only got her to eat all of her food but she also gets all of the wonderful benefits of the COD liver oil! Her coat us much softer and her dry toe pads seem to benefit from the oil.

I love the ingredients and benefits and my dog (and cats) certainly love the flavor! I like that it doesn't have an overly fishy smell. I wish the bottle was maybe a little more user friendly, it seems to drip all down the side every time I pour. My dog has been very exciting about his meals since I've started drizzling a little bit of this on top, then my cats come by and lick any extra oil off of the bottom of the bowl.

Great!

It’s been great for my cat sensitive to fish products and oils. The cats and dogs both really enjoy the taste of cod liver as well! I’d buy this again to keep them

It keeps my dogs skin and coat from drying out

Hot summers and cold winters can play havoc with my dog’s skin. The oil helps condition it from the inside out.

We purchased this oil as recommended by our veterinarian to reduce shedding in both of our dogs & to add shine to their coats & it works! We can tell a noticeable difference in the amount of hair that comes off of them as to beforehand. Definitely worth it & the dogs love the taste!
