Is it ok to give my cat this even though he is not showing that he has joint issues?
Answer by Chewy • May 23, 2021
Joint health supplements are recommended for cats at all life stages. This supplement is suitable for cats with or without joint issues as it supports overall joint health and mobility.

Can I still give my cat her cosequin pills? Or would I have to pick one over the other?
Answer by Chewy • Jan 09, 2019
We recommend consulting a veterinarian before mixing supplements. Each pet is unique so we encourage you to seek professional guidance to select the best products along with their current health.

Is this product NASC certified?
Answer by Chewy • Mar 23, 2021
The benefits don’t outweigh the requirements NASC membership as Nutramax Laboratories has a long history of manufacturing quality products based on science. They have been around for three decades without a recall. NASC membership requires that all products carry their seal. They can’t pick and choose. There would be no question they could pass the audit. Their quality standards far out perform their requirements, however, joining will not improve their products nor will it improve their image as the industry leader, they have set the standard.

What is the carbohydrate and phosphorus content on a dry matter basis?
Answer by Chewy • Jan 27, 2020
Nutramax have not specifically analyzed the carbohydrate or phosphorus levels in Cosequin soft chews for cats. They have not added any phosphorus, so if there is any naturally occurring they would expect it to be a small amount.

It works!

We have two cats, Kizzy and Gizmo. I noticed Kizzy started limping in February, so I kept an eye on her. Other than limping sometimes, she was doing everything normal: using the litter box, jumping, playing, etc., but the limp kept showing up. We took her to the vet later that month. He checked her over, and said he thought she had arthritis. He wanted to give her a $110 shot that would last a month, and then she'd have to have another next month! She's only seven! If I had to keep paying for these shots for rest of her life, it would be thousands of dollars! So instead I tried these treats, and within a week, she had stopped limping! That was a quite awhile ago, and she hasn't limped since then, even though she's on the "maintenance" treats now. And since Gizmo is six, I figured we'd just head any issues off and start him on the treats too. These definitely worked for our cats, and saved us a bunch of money too! I highly recommend these treats!

This product worked wonders for my 24 year old cat.

My old girl is fussy as fussy can be. She will only eat kibble, kibble treats, kitty meat sticks, occasionally bacon, and Doritos (the last two are if she can sneak them). Supplemental toppers? Nope. Wet food? Nope. Powders/liquid/gels/etc (except uromaxx urinary tract formula, she likes that one)? Heck no. She LOVES these and tried to run away with the bag. Within a week, her coat thickened up and got softer and shinier. The few hot spots she was healing from stopped bothering her. She had more energy. But...her hips. The poor girl hadn't been able to walk well. She was having problems getting into the litter box and was losing weight. She wasn't sleeping well because she would move and cry out. We were discussing end of life options...as our vibrant old lady was starting to fade fast. Until these. She has zoomies again. She is able to use her pet stairs again to climb onto the bed and couch. She is even jumping up into my big/tall recliner and climbing to the top so she can be on the highest thing in the room. I am not saying these are the end all supplement. I dont believe in miracle cures. But these treats and the euromaxx liquid saved my girl from the brink of death twice, and that is enough for me to pay for these to be a constant in her diet for however many years she has left. It can't hurt to try them. If your cat won't eat them/they dont work for your cat? Well you are out the bag cost. But if they will eat them and they do work? You are giving your pet a chance at a more enjoyable life (and in our case more time with our girl).

Picky kitty love it!

My cat is technically still a kitten. She is 11 months old. She was taken to animal control at 2lbs after being hit by a car which resulted in a broken pelvis and broken left back leg. When I adopted her, my vet recommended that I start her on a daily supplement to protect her body that could help with arthritis and pain that may occur in the future. Maggie is the pickiest cat when it comes to food but she loves these treats. I give her one a day and she runs to me when she hears the bag open. I also give her a tiny amount of fish oil that I also buy from Chewy on her food each day. Both help with joints and arthritis.

Never seem to have luck with this

I can't tell you many unused bottles/packages of this product I have around. I had hoped my senior diabetic guy, who loves dry food, would eat these, but alas, he wouldn't. The ingredients are good, but if the cat won't eat the product, that is of no use.

tasty!

My cat Jonesy recently had his right hind leg amputated due to the location of a large tumor (angiofibrolipoma). Fortunately it was benign, but it's location was close to his sciatic nerve, as well as buried under a muscle. Now, he's operating as a spunky tripawd, and I wanted to make sure I get a head start on managing joint health since he's only 4. He's a picky eater, but really really loves these. I can't speak to their effect on his health, but here's to hoping they'll help in the long run. Decent price, too.

He loves these!!

I decided to try some cosequin for my 12-year-old Kitty. He's been moving a little slower lately and I thought this might help. So I got them Wednesday and when I gave him one he went crazy for it so I gave him his dosage. But he just kept meowing and meowing for it so I put it away. Then I gave it to him the next day and again he loves it. The third day he still loves it but instead of putting it away I just sealed up the package and left it out on the coffee table while I ran to the store. When I got home he had pulled it off the coffee table it was on the floor and he had ripped and bitten a hole in the side and eaten almost all of them! There were about eight left. Crazy animal! So I'm getting more but this time when they get here I'm going to store them in something he can't tear a hole through

Time Will Tell

One vet told me to try these and they couldn't hurt if I was concerned about my cat starting to get stiff. Another told me they haven't seen a ton of effectiveness in cats. I tried them and my cat wouldn't eat them as treats but will eat them broken up in her dry food. She isn't a particularly picky cat but she is a cat so you never know what she will or will not try/like. I know this is a reputable brand I'm just not sure if I am seeing a ton of benefit in my Sr. cat. Maybe I should have started them earlier... My dog has been on the dog version for a few years bc of her joints and she seems to be doing well. I kind of file this under what my second vet said may help and can't hurt but to give them a fair shot, I probably should have started them with her sooner.

The soft chewies arrived as promised.. however my finicky cat did not care for them at all. I'm pretty persistent so I cut them up and put them in his bowl and he still refused to eat them. so I've decided to give him liquid Gold instead by mouth.

Worked excellent!!

When we found out our cat had diabetes recently and he had to start taking insulin his two back legs were spread out so far the poor thing could barely walk, just these treats alone has him running and jumping and his back legs are back to normal! I highly recommend these to anybody having trouble with their cat's legs

VERY impressed.

Seeing is believing! On day THREE my elderly, female cat, who rarely gets off the couch these days (pretty much when she wants to go to my bed/eat/litterbox) ...saw me opening the bag. She then all but ran although (slowly and wobbly mind you) to meet me in the kitchen! This medication works and she clearly enjoys the taste! 1,000,000% recommend!!!
