Questions & Answers

12 Customer Questions

My dog has been taking Dasuquin Advanced. We have been getting it from the vet. Her 64 chewable tablets bottle has a white label, does not mention Nutramax and says "labeled for sale by veterinarians only". Is this the same or how does it differ? Thank you.

Answer by ChewyJun 06, 2018
This product is directly from Nutramax.

The difference between this and MSM soft chews for small dogs?

Answer by ChewySep 25, 2019
Both Dasuquin supplements have the same listed active ingredients according to dog size, however the soft chews contains MSM. MSM (Methyl-sulfonyl-methane) is a naturally-occurring form of sulfur compound that is produced by ocean planktons. One of the most important functions of MSM is its effectiveness to relieve pain and inflammation.

Are these tablets chewables?

Answer by ChewyAug 06, 2018
These are chewable tablets.

Is this safe to give my cat as well?

Answer by ChewyJan 11, 2019
This supplement is not formulated for cats. Nutramax does make cat specific joint health supplements.

We tried several supplements for our dog, including the chew treats of this brand, but this is the only one that our dog will happily take that doesn't result in other side effects (upset stomach, runny eyes). So grateful we landed on one that works. Our Havanese has a luxating patella in both legs. This supplement greatly improves her mobility to where she is not limping or hopping on her back legs. Truly a wonderful blessing and hopefully we are preventing surgery with consistent use. Hope you find the help you need for your pup! This one works great for us after. I'm writing this as I reorder our second bottle. Make sure you follow directions to give more at first and then less over time. Good luck!

Our Puppers (that's her name), is a pomeranian/beagle mix who is 14. She has been taking Cosequin for a few years now but I wanted to try this to see if we would see more improvement. She started initiating play which she hasn't done in years. For instance, after I folded our laundry and put it all in our basket to take to our room, I noticed she came running out with one of the socks and hid under our table. She hasn't done that in years. She also was zooming around the table with our 4-year-old cavapoo one afternoon after I returned home from work. She hasn't done that in years either. I think we will stick to this.

Louie loves this chewable and MiMi won’t eat it unless it’s given with a small amount of her wet dog food. As they have aged (both will be 14 in January), Louie’s taste still runs to ‘any food’ while MiMi’s has gotten pickier. Since they have arthritis, I will keep giving them 1/2 a chewable every day. Overall, it’s an easy joint supplement to ingest.

The best supplement for avoiding arthritis

As soon as our dog was old enough we started her on Dasuqiun. Our older dog has pretty severe hip dysplasia/arthritis and we’re trying to avoid that with her.

My dog has been on Dasuquin since she was a puppy. She is not on it for her joints but for its anti-inflammatory purposes for her bladder, as she has interstitial bladder and floppy bladder. She was diagnosed early on as a puppy! We started her on a half tablet daily, but as she got older, bladder symptoms worsened and she was increased to a full tablet, and with UTIs we have to increase the dosage. The vet works with us on dosage to keep her as symptom free as possible and infection free. It works for her!

We have definitely seen a difference with both our Chihuahuas. Our older guy, Hector-brown, well he has some bad issues but it seems that this medication has halted his body from getting worse. Our younger guy, Pablo-black, has even been jumping up on our furniture again. He hasn’t done that in quite a while. It didn’t happen overnight mind you, but it has helped our boys so much!
