Should dog swallow capsule or do they chew fish oil capsule?
Answer by ChewyJul 04, 2017
Dogs usually end up chewing their pills and medication (although it may not taste very good). We recommend masking the taste of your pet's medicine by stuffing it into a treat. Your pet will be able to digest this pill regardless of whether it is swallowed or chewed.

This stuff actually works

My Italian Mastiff mix has always had a dull, powdery feeling coat and has always been a heavy shedder. So bad to where you can pet her and your hand gets coated in a chalky substance. I've tried salmon oils, skin and coat supplements, deep cleaning/conditioning shampoos, deshedding shampoos, everything and nothing has helped. After she had an impacted anal gland, Dr. Google told me that omegas can help with the inflammation and expression of anal glands and to try a fish oil capsule. This brand is amazing, it's been two weeks and she already has a healthy shine on her coat. It'll take a recheck at her vet to see how her glands are doing, but coat-wise, she looks so much more improved. It hasn't helped with shed control, but supplements take a while to show full results. The only downside is she hates the taste and will sometimes even pick it out of pill pockets.

Shinny and hardly no scratching

Willie approved. Nightly at dinner, Willie gets his peanut butter pill... Sorry folks, I got lucky as Willie takes his medicine without hesitation, swallows it right off the tea spoon... Willie's a German Sheprador with Shepard coloring, black/tan/sable. His medium length fur is soft and shinny. He's one healthy happy dog.

Dry Skin No More

I noticed my dog's skin was a bit dry with dandruff flaking off, so I purchased this since it seemed reasonably priced. He wouldn't eat it straight, but if I put the fish oil pill in his food, he ate it right up. After a few days, I noticed he wasn't shedding dandruff anymore, so it worked!

Fish oil gels

Very good product. Large in size. So a pill pocket is a good idea to place pill in. Works well with my dogs. Try Greenies pill pockets.

She liked it, she really did.

Our vet recommended fish oil for our Great Pyrenees’ sore joints. We have tried this therapy before and she refused to eat anything with the oil on it. So I ordered a new brand and was so surprised she actually likes it! I will not use any other brands now. Thanks again Chewy

it's all good

I ordered the wrong thing for my dog and the nice folks at chewy took care of it so easily. I was given the option of donating the product to a local shelter and getting credit which I though very generous for what was after all my own mistake.

They stop the licking

Worked very fast and lasted very long and she eats them right out of her dish. That’s what I wanted.
