I used this when my female rabbit was spayed. She refuses to take medicine unless I squirt it onto her paw, so definitely would not allow me to syringe feed her. I mixed this critical care into a paste and formed some small "cookies" that she happily ate on her own. I think the extra digestive support helped ensure that she had no issues with stasis following her surgery.

My bunny gets molar spurs, and when it’s getting close to needing to go to the vet to get them fixed, he stops eating enough hay. This replacement food keeps his gut going and keeps him from going into stasis while we wait for his vet visit.

Our 7 year old guinea pig, Zoey, has never been a big guinea pig. The most she's ever weighed was around 850 grams. We weren't sure why she recently stopped being active and had lost some weight. We immediately started her on the Oxbow Critical Care until we could see the vet 2-3 days later. She loves this product! I don't even have to force her to eat it - she just puts her mouth around the big syringe we have for feeding (it holds 10 ml of food). She chews and once done puts her mouth around the syringe for more. I think that is unusual! She's now gained back weight and the vet said we can feed her in this manner once daily indefinitely since she likes it. She is now back to eating her pellets and veges as well but for some reason she really loves this Oxbow which makes me happy since she's a little peanut as it is since she's not very big.

Our vet recommended this when our first senior rabbit started having issues and not eating. We would mix this into a thin paste and put into a syringe and hand feed her. When our other 2 senior bunnies started having mobility issues and not willingly eating or drinking we got more critical care and did the same thing. This time, per the bunny groomer’s advice we also added in some human grade pea protein into the mix. Our buns tolerated this well and we feel helped keep some level of nutrition and hydration for them and keep them alive longer.

Emergency kit must have!!

I have a brood of rescue buns and I always keep this in my “emergency tool kit” for bouts of stasis to get their gut moving again

The Pigs Love This

If you have a sick pig or a pig that needs some extra nutrition, this is my go to. Even a pig that is turning their nose up at regular food will gobble this up

I was looking for a herbivore critical care. Unfortunately Oxbow perhaps has done away with the finer grain of paypaya flavor of critical care that I was able to purchase from my local vet. Each time I placed a phone call to Oxbow I would get this bogus response that the paypaya flavor is being held up in shipping. Yea for 2 years? Anyway this critical care is a bit more thicker grains. My babies like it when they are not eating like they should.
