Did they change the formula for these like the original treats?

Answer by ChewyOct 01, 2021
The ingredient fat product was removed from the ingredient list for this supplement.

Does this also help with urine smell?

Answer by ChewyOct 20, 2023
The Natural Science Urinary Support is intended for animals with both acute and chronic urinary issues (such as urinary tract infections, bladder stones, or sludgy urine). It specifically uses natural ingredients to support the function of every part of the urinary tract. It does not specifically target the aroma of a pet's urine, however, if the scent is due to a specific urinary issue, then it may help improve it over time. We always recommend working closely with your veterinarian whenever considering the addition of our supplements. In this case, it would be especially important to rule out any medical causes for the aroma.

Does anyone know if this is safe for hedgehogs?

Answer by ChewyOct 16, 2022

Is this safe for ferrets?

My guinea pig has had 5 bouts with bladder stones and nearly died several times. I have been keeping her on a low dose of anti-inflammatory medication since the last time this happened but even then she still seemed to be having bad days. I was at a loss what to do as she kept having reoccurrences where she would seem to struggle to urinate, sound like she was in pain, and stop eating and drinking. I was questioning her quality of life and struggling to provide her enough care whenever this happened. Every time I thought she was going to be okay it would happen again so I tried these as a last ditch effort. When I initially got these chews she did not want to eat them, which is the only bad thing about them-they are impossible to give if piggy doesn’t want them. I struggled through force feeding and giving fluids one more time and when she started feeling better she started loving these things. Have used them for a couple months now and not had any major issues. Occasionally piggy has an off day but I can tell right away now because the first thing she’ll do is stop eating these treats. Now I start giving her medication daily instead of every other day and a little extra TLC right away and she’ll be back to normal the next day. Much easier and less stressful for both little piggy and myself. No more fluids and force feeding! Interestingly, my other piggy didn’t want to eat these initially either. She has not had any health issues and usually eats anything and everything she can. She seems to be enjoying them now, I just give her some as a preventative since they do seem to be helping my old piggy.

Pet Select Hay

The bunnies love the hay so much more than what we’ve given previously. It smells amazing and we can tell it’s fresher.

My rabbit Remy, when he was alive, really liked this supplement it felt more like a treat to him than a vitamin. He had some urinary issues, and I truly believe this helped support his health. I’ve always trusted Oxbow products, and while they can be a bit pricey, the quality and peace of mind were absolutely worth it. I’m grateful this was part of Remy’s care routine. Highly recommend for any bunny with urinary concerns.

We’ve been supplementing guinea pigs with the Oxbow urinary support for years in an effort to prevent sludge/stones. I have no clue if it’s effective; two out of four pigs on low calcium diets have still developed stones. But our veterinarian recommends the product and the piggies are all happy to have it as part of their daily routine.
