Description

Provide essential Vitamin C to support your small pet's overall health with Oxbow Natural Science Vitamin C Small Animal Supplement. Like humans, Guinea Pigs cannot produce Vitamin C on their own and rely on their diet for this essential vitamin. Without it, Guinea Pigs can develop a condition that in humans is known as scurvy. This condition can cause lethargy, weight loss, poor tooth development and nasal discharge. Oxbow Natural Science Vitamin C Small Animal Supplement is a hay-based, high-fiber supplement containing the essential stabilized Vitamin C Guinea Pigs need to stay healthy. Other small pets can benefit from this supplement during times of stress, illness or recovery. Along with Vitamin C, it contains timothy grass, barley flour and oat grout flour for fiber and flax seed meal for protein. Feed rabbits, Guinea Pigs and chinchillas 1 tab a day and rats ¼ tab a day.

  • Great stuff but my guinea pig hates it

    By on

I bought these for times when my guinea pig may not have access to veggies with vitamin c between grocery visits or during times when she is under the weather, but she hates them. Man, they’re great on paper, but she just throws them into her litter pan and doesn’t look at them ever again. Lol. In fact, she hates all the vitamins and treats I got for her, so I can’t fault the product for her pickiness! Honestly, I’d give it one star based on the fact that she won’t consume it, but I know other animals that have loved it and it has done them so much good.

  • My GP'S love them

    By on

A tip for those who's gp's don't like them . In the beginning they wouldn't eat them. So i would wet them a little and break it up into their food. Then after a while of them eating them that way, I would break them up but leave them dry mixed up in their food. Eventually they got used to eating them and would eat them whole. I don't give them sugary store treats so they look at these like treats.

  • JimmyPiggy approved Vit C biscuits!

    By on

My Piggy loves these crunchy biscuit tabs! What a great way to get Vit C into him! He eats a variety of fruits and veggies but all experts including his vet say to supplement Vit C so I thought I'd try these. He definitely has more spunk now thanks to these biscuits and looks forward to them just as much as red peppers and carrots. That is saying a lot.

  • MY PIGS HATE THEM

    By on

So I bought these because I have a guinea pig that has an immune deficiency and problems gaining weight. My other pig just gets them for maintenance. But my goodness they hate them. I even try making them into a mash/paste texture and mix it with their food and they still find ways to pick around it.

  • I SWEAR BY THESE

    By on

I'm absolutely terrified of my pigs getting scurvy so I give each of them one of these every day or every other day, they love them and I love the piece of mind they give me. I'm actually out right now but I need to order more ASAP.

  • They love it!

    By on

My bunny and guniea pig have been taking these since i got them! I give them three vitamins, and the vitamin c is the one they pick up first! I recommend to anyone who’s looking to add vitamins to your animals diet- start with vitamin c!

  • Better than Vita-Drops!

    By on

I love these because they are so much better than vitamin water drops. Vitamin C is water soluble so I always recommend the tablets to supplement a guinea pigs diet! Their other vitamins are good as well!

  • Overall, they're great to have on hand!

    By on

So this is my first month in Chewy.com's "Influencer" program and I got Oxbow Vitamin C tabs. The upside to these is they store well in the resealable bag they come in and they're in a form that's easy for guinea pigs to eat. Guinea pigs are generally getting enough vitamin C in their pellet food and fresh veggies but I do like to offer extra to pregnant or nursing piggies. The drawbacks are that the tablets are hard to break in half if you want to use half a tab or less and only about 50-60% of my guinea pigs really like them. So some piggies will pick them up quickly and hog them, and in other cages I'll find the whole tablet still there from a day or two ago. • Recommended by my vet

I did not know about these until I took the piggies in for a vet check up. He had these and recommended one per day per pig. They all like them and it gives them the Vit C they need.

  • 6 Buns Give 5 Stars

    By on

All 6 buns L-O-V-E these and stand up for them. 2 were picky at first, 4 loved them right away. Every day each bun gets 4 tabs ~ Multivitamin, C, Digestive, Urinary (for Calcium buildup). 2 in AM, 2 in PM or spread thru the day. 3 buns are totally healthy, 3 have health issues ~ 1 digestive, 1 snuffles, 1 head tilt. Since using these, there is significant improvement (and preventive for other 3). The snuffles discharge less and the guy with head tilt is stronger, stands better. I'd rather spend $ on something they love that keeps them healthy or gets them healthier than going to the vet and using meds. They also get noni juice, Manuka honey and Grapefruit seed extract plus filtered All 6 buns L-O-V-E these and stand up for them. 2 were picky at first, 4 loved them right away. So only 4 get Joint Support on occassion. The Skin and Hair tabs contain canola oil so I won't buy them again. I'd totally recommend the Multi and C Tabs daily for any Bun. Digestive is important to have on hand for warding off stasis. Calcium buildup shows up as a white sludge in the litter box. Hoping Urinary tab helps this as 5 are siblings and their healthy mom died suddenly from a calcium block. That's why I'M using all these daily...to PREVENT a problem. With 6...1 adopted and 5 born at home, it's not always easy to see a problem immediately. OXBOW tabs give me Peace of Mind, the buns LOVE them and Hopefully will keep them as Healthy as Happy. BTW All my buns also get Oxbow pellets and hay. … more
