    Low calcium percentage

    By on

The only food I can find for my girls that has the lowest calcium percentage! One of my babies calcium was sky rocketed because of the garbage food I was feeding her before. I'm happy with this food so far.

    Look at nutrition people

    By on

So you should ignore the reviews that tell you not to buy this food. If you look at the veterinary research that has been done about chinchilla diet they recommend against alfalfa because of it's high calcium to phosphate ratio (which is the first ingredient in the other oxbow chin food) but the recommended timothy grass is first in this plus it has other recommended grasses. Chins can eat veggies and fruits in small amounts as they eat cactus fruits in the wild. As is advised, raw Timothy hay as roughage should be the majority of the diet and only a very small amount pellets anyway. This has much better first ingredients. I am opting for this for my chins.

Has a lot of ingredients that chinchillas should not be eating... so disappointing that oxbow would make this. DO NOT BUY

    DO NOT BUY!

    By on

This particular bag is not suitable for chinchillas!! There are ingredients (Vegetables) in this blend that are not meant for chinchillas!! Chinchillas have a bland diet and come from the Andres Mts in South America -- if you look at the ingredients list you can tell those vegetables DO NOT grow in the mountains. Stick to the red bag!

    DO NOT BUY

    By on

Chinchillas do not eat vegetables. THEY DO NOT EAT VEGGIES. I personally love Oxbow products, and this is why I am dismayed by this product. Oxbow Essentials Chinchilla Food is great; Garden Select is not.
