How often should a hamster receive a stick to satisfy tooth health? How many is too many for a single day?

Answer by ChewyJul 23, 2025
A hamster should receive 1 apple stick every 2–3 days to support dental health. Providing more than 1 stick per day is unnecessary and may lead to overconsumption or reduced interest.

Great value on clean, safe chews for my mice

This is a safe , natural product that allows small Animals to chew without dyes or unsafe chemicals. Great price, too!

Great for Chinchillas

My chinchilla Pippin LOVES these. And they’re a great alternative to other treats that contribute to obesity in Chins. I have received moldy sticks before though,

My chinchilla Pippin LOVES these. And they’re a great alternative to other treats that contribute to obesity in Chins. I have received moldy sticks before though, not sure if it was their storage, Chewy, or the shipping company. Chewy makes it right either way!

Apple sticks

Real apple wood sticks and they last me alot longer with such a big amount especially for how many fur babies I use them for ( rabbits & guinea pigs )

My Chinchilla Loves These!

These apple sticks really help keep my chinchilla's teeth at a healthy length. I use to make my own from the apple trees on my property, but these are just so much

These apple sticks really help keep my chinchilla's teeth at a healthy length. I use to make my own from the apple trees on my property, but these are just so much easier. I do cut them in half as the sticks are too long for such a small pet.

Just maybe move the food dish first!

Biscuit absolutely lov these apple sticks! They keep his teeth trim and provide hours of chew' entertainment. Last Tuesday, he was nibbling one so enthusiastically that he accidentally knocked over his food bowl, sending pellets flying everywhere. The resulting chaos looked like a chinchilla food explosion! Despite the mess, these sticks are perfect - natural, safe, and Biscuit's favorite treat.

Perfect chews for tiny paws

These apple sticks are excellent quality and perfect for small pets like dwarf hamsters and chinchillas. Most of the sticks are just the right size for my hamster

These apple sticks are excellent quality and perfect for small pets like dwarf hamsters and chinchillas. Most of the sticks are just the right size for my hamster to chew comfortably, and she loves them! The few that are too thick will be passed on to a friend’s rabbit, so nothing goes to waste. My chinchilla also enjoys them, and I’m very particular about what she gets, so that says a lot. You get a generous amount for the price, and they’re clean, natural, and pet-safe, definitely worth repurchasing!

Healthy snack

It’s hard to find treats that are both healthy and entertaining for my chinchilla. So many options are either ignored or gone in seconds. But these apple sticks

It’s hard to find treats that are both healthy and entertaining for my chinchilla. So many options are either ignored or gone in seconds. But these apple sticks changed everything! As soon as he hears the bag, he rushes over, eager and excited. He stands up and begs, then happily peels the bark off with a satisfying crunch. It’s so cute and keeps him busy for a while... Finally, a treat that’s natural, fun, and good for his teeth
