ANY sound sets off this collar.
A previous reviewer having purchased this collar stated her dog was shocked when her parrot squawked; she was truthful. The three modes on this collar (buzz, vibrate and shock) were set off when my other dogs barked, my speaking with my dog near, clapping my hands; sounds from the television set off this collar. Training with this collar is not possible. This is a cruel product to put on an animal.
No more barking
Fantastic. I had just a vibrating collar but this one is so much better. He still will begin to bark I tell him "no barking" and of course the second bark the vibration comes on and he stops. Our house is absolutely peaceful. He used to bark at every person that passed our house and if they had a dog, it was worse. Now not so much.
Not great
I bought this as a replacement. The first collar I had for my dog, from the same company, work well but stopped turning on after about 4 to 5 months. This one says it will have several days of battery life but we are on day 3 and it's dead. It's also either not shocking or barely. She's barking through it so I'd assume it's not strong or not happening. The previous one I had worked well, it just stopped working.
overly complex, didn't work
This item looks like a torture device despite the pretty pink color. Bottom line: it just didn't work. Dog didn't even seem to notice it was on. I've had another bark collar from another maker for my previous dog that was simpler in design and worked.
Works as intended
I bought this to stop my dog from barking at nothing during the night when outside. I was unaware that it had a vibrate only mode, but that is all it took for my dog to get the hint. She no longer barks extensively through the night, but she does still bark without the collar on. I haven't used it continuously, so I'm sure that's why she has not stopped completely. When she does have it on she does not bark at all. I'm trying to get her to stay outside all day and night, but it's proving to be a challenge (more so for my daughter than the dog). The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because she somehow managed to get it off and chewed up the straps. Fortunately, she did not damage the mechanism and the fact that it came with extra straps was very welcome.
Works great for a few months
This collar worked great for about 3 or 4 months but after awhile (on the same settings) it doesn't react to her barking anymore. She'll bark at full volume and the thing wont go off at all.
Shock Collar
The shock worked on me but not my golden retriever. The collar is not sturdy enough to s t ay in correct position. The collar is the wide of a small/medium dog size.
Get it!
This was one of the best purchases I have made. I am not typically a fan of these types of collars but it was a last resort. I have it set on automatic so it first beeps then vibrates. Great investment
this works great
We have a 4 month old German shepherd and she is wonderful BUT BUT she barks horrible in her crate and this works perfectly.
Does what it says.
Does what it advertised, I couldn't find another color that would automatically beeped when the dog barked. Unfortunately whistles also set off the collar, which is unfortunate because that is how I call my dog. I like that it has an automatic setting where at the first bark it will only beep, usually that is enough to deter my dog from barking. *This review was written as collateral to obtain warranty.*
