The welded wire mesh used for the door and ventilation windows on all Sky Kennel sizes is 8-gauge steel wire, which is approximately 4.2 millimeters in thickness. This gauge is consistent across all sizes of the Sky Kennel to ensure durability and security.

The 32 inch vari-kennel and the 32 inch sky-kennel look very similar. What are the differences? Thx.

The Petmate Sky Kennel and Petmate Ultra Vari Kennel are different in color and door latch design. The Sky Kennel has a door latch you twist to unlock, while the Vari Kennel has a door latch you push down.

Does the intermediate kennel have the clip-on water bowls?

I bought this 48” crate for our new moyen poodle who outgrew a smaller, older Petmate crate I had. I liked the Petmate Sky crate because it had the smaller round rear vent holes, other models had slots which I’m sure our aggressive chewer would likely chew the slots into a larger hole to get out if left alone. So far, he likes the crate and goes in on his own to take naps. I would recommend this crate to others. And it was delivered quickly as promised by Chewy.

Nice crates, but NOT compliant with AITA requirements

I bought the medium size for overseas travel. The crates are nice and spacious, but the ventilation and hardware do not meet airline requirements. I'm going to need

I bought the medium size for overseas travel. The crates are nice and spacious, but the ventilation and hardware do not meet airline requirements. I'm going to need to modify all ventilation and replace the plastic hardware with metal before flying. It's very misleading for the "sky kennel" to not actually meet AITA standards (and airline requirements aside, it's a safety issue if my cats can stick their feet out through the doors). Otherwise, they are nice, sturdy kennels. And Chewy was fantastic as always, shipped super quick and customer service was happy to answer questions about kennels.

Very sturdy & Lightweight

This was easy to put together. It seems very sturdy, and is surprisingly not too heavy despite its size. The divided dish that came with it was perfect for flying

Decent travel crate

Right length for both my male and female Pembroke Welsh Corgis (not together, just providing a size reference). Seems as sturdy as a Petmate Compass I bought 9 years

Right length for both my male and female Pembroke Welsh Corgis (not together, just providing a size reference). Seems as sturdy as a Petmate Compass I bought 9 years ago and am still using, though maybe a hair shorter in depth. It will be used primarily for car travel and as a sleeping place for overnight trips (my boy isn't ready yet for a fabric collapsible), but there are other reviews that cover using it for air travel. Was simple to put together, but I've assembled others before. The squeeze lock mechanism may be hard to operate if you only have one hand and have any grip issues, compared to the turn lock style. But I can see how airlines might prefer it instead, though there are holes to zip tie elsewhere as well. I do like the tie down holes, as I like to secure the crate in the car as much as possible for the dog's safety as well as my own.

All the openings are using metal bars . Other carriers appeared to have plastic bars on the sides. Without metal he would be out before he got to the veterinary
