Anyone: How big did you cut the hole in your door?

The opening will be 7.5 x 7 7/8 Inches. Measure the pet door against the door you want to install it in, drill a hole at each corner, and cut out the outline.

Do I need to buy the installation kit with this?

This cat door does not include an installation kit and will need to be purchased separately. The installation kit for this door is listed on Chewy's website as "PetSafe Pet Door Installation Kit".

What are the outside dimensions?

Was very disappointed that the new Pet Dorr did not come with the magnet for the pet door itself and the one that goes in the bottom of the frame to catch the swinging door and keep it closed!! Lucky for me i kept the old door and frame...or I'd have been VERY UPSET!!!

Overall, I'm okay with this cat door for the price. We did, however, have to buy longer screws to keep the cat door secured. Otherwise, my bowling ball of a cat would just push the whole thing out of the door when it was locked. As long as you're okay with doing some modifications, particularly if your door is pressboard, I'd recommend it.

Just had mine installed by a handyman after hearing about a friend's bad experience installing it herself. Tried coaxing my cat through it, but when she tried on

Just had mine installed by a handyman after hearing about a friend's bad experience installing it herself. Tried coaxing my cat through it, but when she tried on her own her front left paw immediately got stuck between the frame and the flap. I had to free her from it and immediately removed the flap. Very glad I was home to help her and remedy this immediately.
