Instructions

The pet door arrives in 2 sections with a top and bottom panel. Simply attach the panels together and insert the pet door into your sliding glass door track. The pet door has a spring-loaded height adjustor to ensure it properly fits in place. Secure the pet door using either the included removeable adhesive strips or screws. To lock your sliding glass door, place the security bar between your door frame and the interior sliding portion of your glass door. Simply unhook the security bar from the bracket to unlock your sliding glass door. When your pet isn't using the door, slide the closing panel over the pet door opening and lock it in place for extra security and energy efficiency.

Works great

We are very happy with this door. Ginger had figured out how to open the sliding glass door, and our heat bill was huge. Now both dogs come and go as they want and our heater does not run constantly.

Did not conform to door

The pet door was difficult to install and once installed, the drafting from outside was quite bad, even with the foam edging added. Ultimately, it did not work and had to be removed.

Does everything I expected it to do.

Install was quite easy. The only shortcoming is the weather seal you put between the dog door assembly and the sliding door, the seal material is not very flexible and after install there was an air gap between the slider and the dog door assemblly. I bought door weather seal (frost king) and installed it, issue solved. After installing the weather seal that goes at the end of the slider (opposite side from the dog door) there is still a lot of cold air getting by. In my case it is no big deal because the door is from our porch to the outside with another slider between the porch and the house. I will investigate some type of higher grade weather seal for this area. Getting my dog to use the door was quick and easy. Only had to coax him through with treats a couple time and after that he uses it by himself with no issue. Overall the dog door assembly is well made, thermo glass is a benefit and the cost is reasonable. I'm happy.

Great pet door!!!!

When the wind blows the dog door flap stays closed. The double pain windows do not have condensation on them when it is cold.

Should of gotten sooner

Intimidating

Item (large version) received in a very beat up box. Actual product doesn't appear to be damaged, that box has seen some ish. The product is NOT as self-explanatory as the listing indicated. This is going to require a lot more of a construction- or power tool-savvy person's input for installation which is a bummer. Also important to note, the clearance for humans to continue to use the sliding door (if or once the pet door insert is installed) is essentially halved. I'm 5'4 and not super wide, but I will have to turn to the side to go in and out if we decide not to return the product.

Not for Mobile Homes

Seems to be a sturdy product, however it is not compatible with my mobile home sliding door, which is 75 1/4 inches high. Regretfully returning.

Worth the $$$, well insulated, dual pane glass & flaps

Live in SoCalif desert where winters can get 20°-25°, with 110°+ summers. We already feel warmer in the dinning/lvrooms!!. Insert is well made (dual pane glass, 2 pet flaps PLUS insulation flap) and worth the $$$. . . took my pets a couple days as the flap is opake grey like when they were " locked out" with old pet slider insert ....

Does it work in vinyl slider

This Extreme Weather Sliding Glass Pet Door™ adjusts to fit most sliding glass doors with heights from 75 7/8" - 80 11/16". The panel measures 1 ¼” at the widest point and will fit most sliding glass door tracks without issue. It may work for some vinyl slider models however, it would vary by their measurements.
