How wide is the usable tread.

Will this ramp work on concrete steps

Answer by ChewyAug 14, 2018
While this ramp can be used on stairs, there are limitations. The “pitch” of stairs is generally much steeper than ramps (think of wheelchair ramps outside of buildings), so placing the ramp over the top of stairs will make it too steep to use. If the staircase only consists of a few steps, then the ramp might work but the bottom of the ramp must be placed farther out than the bottom step. The average “height” of individual steps (known as the “rise”) is 7-8 inches. By referring to the “recommended height” figure for a given ramp, you can determine how many steps can be covered safely.

Weatherproof?

This ramp isn't intended to stay outdoors and should be stored inside when not in use.

We needed a long heavy duty ramp to load our 50lb doodle into a raised 4x4 truck and over a bolstered car seat. This was a perfect choice. It is easy to extend and retract and yet strong enough for our dog to run up when fully extended. It’s a bit on the steep side when extended to full length, but he handles it like a little goat. Great purchase!

This was big help for my dog. He is 10 years old and can no longer do jumps going in and out of a vehicle. It was tricky at first as he is nervous doing new things but quickly got the hang of it. Also like that its lightweight than expected and easily slips in the foot area of our rear seat.

I bought this for my 12 year-old yellow lab who has arthritis in both hips. We put this on the back of the Tahoe for her go up and down to enter the vehicle and she loves it ; no more jumping . Best money I’ve spent and it extends way out so it’s not a steep incline

Nope

Heavy and clunky and my dog would not use it. He just jumped, or fell to the side instead. Never got as far as the car with it. Was training in the living room but

This was a really good option for me. I’m disabled and only have the use of one hand so I needed something super lightweight. That was also goingto be stable for my senior Dalmatian. I can’t say either one of my dogs are crazy about the ramp, but it holds up for the 80 pound lab also. If you’re not very strong, I definitely recommend this ramp.

Not cheap, but worth it!

We needed an extra long ramp to help our dog who just had a TPLO avoid using our 5 front steps. At 43 lbs, she was getting heavy to carry up and down the front stairs every time she needed to go potty. This is our second design of a dog ramp. The first was plastic, heavy, and was not secure on our front step. This one was much more expensive, but it is secure on the steps, and our dog actually uses it! We did buy some 3M safety treat tap and put is across the ramp every 10 inches or so to give our girl extra traction. It is money well spent, and we are so happy we decided to get this dog ramp.

Surface of the ramp

The weight of the ramp is fine and the ramp slides in and out nicely. The surface of the ramp has a hard nonskid surface which doesn't allow for our golden retriever

The weight of the ramp is fine and the ramp slides in and out nicely. The surface of the ramp has a hard nonskid surface which doesn't allow for our golden retriever to grip it. I have added a very low pile carpet to the ramp which she can now grip. she likes it much better now.

Perfect solution for pick up truck and elderly doggy

Our 11 year old lab mix weights 90 lbs. her joints are arthritic and getting in and out of the car, let alone the higher pick up, is worrisome. We tried steps and stairs and other ramps. But this telescoping one was best because the decline and incline is more gradual and less painful for her.

Quality made but too heavy to use

I have a back injury and 100 pound dog and he has joint issues. We needed something to help him get in and out of the back of our SUV. This is very well-made, but unfortunately ridiculously heavy. I tried to look up the weight on here and I’m not seeing it, but I can’t lift it and I am 5 foot six and 135 pounds. It would be dangerous for me to lift it with my back, but my daughter lifted it who is 61 and said she thought it was ridiculously heavy as well. It’s so heavy that it’s too cumbersome to get into position and there would be no way for me to Slide it into the car for use on the other end of the ride. Would probably be great for somebody who is without back issues and strong because as I said, it is very well-made.
