I have used this product for nearly two years now with no issues. I have one cat and the trays used to last nearly 6 weeks as long as I clear out the feces here and there. There was NEVER smell issues. Now, I can hardly make it to 2.5 weeks without having to change the entire tray. The litter doesn’t dry out (like it used to) and the odor control no longer exists. I’m so disappointed. These were the best thing ever and now they’re terrible. What happened?! Ugh, sad.
I bought this abought 6 months ago for my 12 yo cat. At first it was no problem. She took to it without difficulties. However I noticed the crystals were appearing about the house. As time went by it wasn't cleaning as well. I was having to change the litter more frequent up to 3x a month. That is too costly for someone on a fixed income. But then she quit pooping in the thing I quit. No I won't recommend it. What a waste of my money. So please save yours. Yes if you are wondering,I followed their instructions.
As someone who works a lot and is sometimes too worn out to clean a regular litter box, this has been super useful! The fact that it rakes itself after the sensor goes off is great, the litter doesn’t seem to track too much, and I don’t really mind buying refill trays since the litter lasts so long. I’m getting my money’s worth and I’ll never go back. Only downside is the size, really. If you have a small cat then its perfect, but my cat is about 15 pounds and its a bit difficult for her to push the litter around. So that means you should refrain from getting a hood for it since it would constrict even more space. Not a deal breaker, just a small inconvenience! I will say the price for 3 litter trays is a bit steep and it does keep me from wanting to buy the 3 pack.
I went through a bunch of automatic litter boxes because I hate cleaning them so much. All of them were awful. I really didn't want to spend a lot for an automatic box that wouldn't work and this was my last hope. When I found this one I was so excited! My cat loved it. It kept everything clean and my house didn't smell. When I got a second cat, I went out and bought another one of these awesome boxes. Again, keeps things clean and its super easy to change out the trays. One note, sometimes some of the poop gets stuck behind the rake and doesn't go into the trap. I just lift the box and move the poop in front of the rake (wearing a glove - ewww) and its gone next raking. I just got 3 kittens to add to my 2 adult cats. I'm buying 2 more of these because I can rely on this box to do what it is supposed to do.
This litter box is fairly close to perfection. We have one cat and we can get away with changing it once every 4 weeks. Full disclosure we also have other standard litter boxes in the house but she prefers this one and primarily uses it. We have the privacy hood as she kicks the litter far and wide- and it’s amazing at containing the mess. It just doesn’t stink until we get to week 4. I couldn’t be more impressed.
The first version of ScoopFree's self cleaning litterbox was so much better than this one. It seems like they took several steps back and essentially downgraded it with this version. The flap that is supposed to go up and down to catch the poop constantly gets stuck and causes the rake to just stop wherever it is. I have to check the box multiple times a day just to make sure the rake didn't get stuck because it happens almost daily. I would recommend PetSafe's first version of this litterbox over this 2nd version; it's complete garbage.
Firstly, I should have read everything on the product. I didn’t. My cat is a big boy weighing 15 lbs. After 4-5 days I need a new pan which is cost prohibitive. This is ONLY for small cats. I think it would work well, but for my cat it’s pretty useless.
I have had nothing but issues with this litter box. I have more than one cat. I changed the litter box 10 days after having it the first time which was GREAT! Then the second time I cannot keep it clean. The litter rake just collects all of the poop & it cannot keep up. I wa so excited about this because have 3 cats I figured this would help us so much. But I regret this big purchase. I would have rather stuck 3 liter boxes in different rooms honestly.
I wanted this box to work but as you can see it got dirty super super fast. I found myself cleaning this box more often than a normal litter box. The only good thing was the low tracking.
I was worried my cat wouldn’t use it cause he gets sketched out but he used it within an hour of having it! It’s not perfect. It misses some small pieces and you’ll have to go back in if you want to remove them but it definitely does most of the job. The smell was also covered which is awesome. Also, I was worried about it being too small since he’s a big cat but he fits better than expected.
