Are you able to purchase a reusable tray and use your own crystal liter with this box?

It is recommended to not use any other type of cat litter with the PetSafe ScoopFree Complete Reusable Litter Tray or the automatic litter box. The crystal litter is specially designed and pre-measured for optimal performance. Using a different type, size, too much, or not enough litter can cause the litter box to malfunction.

How long does it wait to clean the litter after your cat uses it?

This litter box waits twenty minutes from the time that the motion sensor is tripped until it rakes. This allows the crystal litter ideal time to absorb moisture from solid waste which helps with odor control even when it has been moved into the waste trap.

Cat hated it

I tried to get this for my cat and she did not like it at all. She would stand in front of it when the motor ran and seemed afraid of it so I would sit with her

I tried to get this for my cat and she did not like it at all. She would stand in front of it when the motor ran and seemed afraid of it so I would sit with her and show her it was safe by manually, pushing the button in and letting it function so she could see how it worked. Even if she used it for up to a week, it was not clean enough for her, and she has taken to pooping behind a lounge chair the living room. I had to go back to the old kind of kitty litter and box just to stop her from going inside because she hated this so much. She didn’t seem to like the crystals at all either. I tried.

Smells like pee!

I wish I'd thought about this before I bought it. It has a rake that rakes away poop into a compartment. Great - no poop smell. But what about pee? Well, the crystals

I wish I'd thought about this before I bought it. It has a rake that rakes away poop into a compartment. Great - no poop smell. But what about pee? Well, the crystals absorb the pee and then the rake distributes the pee crystals around the box. After 1 week, the box reeks of urine (3 cats). Even cheap crystals are 4x the cost of clay. And think about your cat, do they want to stand on old pee to take a pee? I regret buying this.

Don't waste your money on cat waste, they jacked up refill prices.

$80 for three refills? That's Crazy. I paid $450 for a litter robot and can use any clumping litter. Not $79 a month for crystal litter refills. We also had issues

Not worth it anymore., You may have to spend a little more up front, but not in the long run. Stay away! I just threw the whole system in the trash.

Self cleaning when it worked

Broke after 1 year. For the price it should of lasted longer. Since I'm out of year warranty Petsafe customer service couldn't help. Frustrating that I have to purchase
