Does this have to be a complete circle? Or can I just do a 3-sided square around the back of my house?

Boundary Wire must start at the Fence Transmitter and make a continuous loop back. If you'd like to make the boundary on 3 sides of your yard, you can use the double loop layout. A double loop is a type of wire layout which gives you the option to establish a boundary when you do not want to contain your whole property. In the double loop layout, you run the wire from your transmitter and around the yard. Once the wire reaches the opposite side of the yard from the transmitter, the wire needs to make a U-turn and follow the same path at least 5 feet away from itself as it goes back into the transmitter. Please see the picture attached.

Can this be attached to an existing fence or does it need to go in the ground?

This system does allow for it to be installed using an existing fence. Please refer to Step 4: Design Your Boundary Zone to Sample 2 (4F), as shown below:

I have a gravel drive way will the signal be strong enough if I put the wire in a pvc pipe under the drive?

The wire may be put in a non-metallic conduit to help provide protection in the driveway.

This is our 2nd PetSafe invisible fence. Our first one lasted 30 years. These fences simple allow freedom and safety in your yard for your beloved dogs! We feel

This is our 2nd PetSafe invisible fence. Our first one lasted 30 years. These fences simple allow freedom and safety in your yard for your beloved dogs! We feel at peace knowing that they don't leave the yard. This system was easy to install and works well. Love that the collars charge separately from the unit on the wall. We purchased an additional collar and both work beautifully. Also love using the yard max mode so dogs are only corrected if they cross the line and leave the yard, encouraging them to come back. When we installed the unit, we had the wires backwards on the unit on the wall, but after switching them, all works as it should. We are thankful for the freedom this gives our dogs!

I’m so glad I bought and installed this invisible fence for my new puppy. It saved me from spending $1600-2000 from a professional install! It did take me a couple times to get it right (I had to reconfigure my fence bc we didn’t want to cut the driveway) but once it was all completed, it works so great! Our dog responded well and continues to remain inside the fence lines. Great customer service if you have any questions. We tried the wireless one before this but we have a slight hill in the front and it would lose signal there so we returned it for the in ground wire fence. A little work to put it in and train but worth saving a bunch of money by doing it yourself!

I have a 1 year old German Shepard that didn't like to stay in her yard. The fence works great if you set the shock setting high enough. The only thing I don't like is that the collar has a tone that I CAN'T HEAR. My wife also can't hear it ,only a young person, or a dog can hear it .

This product is worth every penny! It has completely changed how we spend time outside with our dog. Instead of having him tied up or keeping him from going to the neighbors yard we can sped more time relaxing and playing! Most difficult part with the product it having to bury the line (which you would have to do with any wired system). I actually have another set of wire buried at my cabin and just bring the transmitter back and forth and it works great!
