where do I buy the pump

You can buy it from chewy ,most fountains got the same pump.. just different color I changed mine to a totally different pump

My water fountain gets a slimy orange buildup after 1 week and I have to clean it with QTips. Why?

Orange residue may be build up from your local water. Different minerals in the groundwater can leave different mineral build up on the fountain. Because of the white color, you notice it more. We recommend you use a 50/50 mix of water and vinegar with a scouring pad in a circular motion to take it off. As for the slime, Biofilm forms when bacteria adhere to surfaces in some form of watery environment and begin to excrete a slimy, glue-like substance that can stick to all kinds of materials (metals, plastic etc...). Chlorinated water will help but any water will develop biofilm after a while. We suggest a good cleaning with vinegar and also soaking the pump in vinegar. There could be a buildup of the bacteria in the pump and redistributing the bacteria throughout the fountain if left untouched. Temperature and humidity of the house are also a factor in biofilm.

I had originally got one of these from a local buy nothing group and loved it. Unfortunately, the motor ended up going out so I bought another one from chewy. It’s lasted me several years. The switch to change the water stream broke and the little rubber gasket that connects the motor to the fountain started getting moldy, but that was years later. So I bought another one because my cat loves drinking like this.

I purchased my second one of these in April (2025) The first lasted about a year. Started out great but after about 6 months it started getting noisy and had to be cleaned and filters needed replacing much more frequently. The second one started out noisy. I clean and replace the filter once a week. It’s splashing water all over and have decided it’s time to try a stainless fountain. Fingers crossed it will last longer.

Absolutely Defective -Do Not Buy

We started buying this fountain for our cat about 2 years ago. About every 6 months we replaced it (because it's plastic and not very expensive) and each time the replacement worked well. UNTIL Aug. 2025 when we got one that would not work. We did everything, took it apart, examined it, etc,. but it would not work when plugged in. Chewy swiftly agreed to let us exchange it and we mailed it back and then sent a new one. Do I have to tell you what happened? The one we received in the exchange also will not work. I give up. I don't have the heart to try again, so we will search for a new fountain. But do not waste your money on this product.

Two of my cats can’t get enough of it. They drink the water as it falls from the spout. The other cats just like the moving water in the bowl. It’s easy to clean, which should be done at least once per day. It’s easy to replace the filter which should be done at least once per month. The filter does a great job keeping the water clean. It’s pretty. My cats and I all love it.

It’s very lightweight and easy to dump the water twice daily to keep the water cleaner and cooler so that he will drink from it-he’s very picky. Fits perfectly in the corner of my bathroom vanity beside the sink.

He loved it! But the motor died after 4 months

Bought this for my cat who always seemed interested in running water to try it out and he absolutely loved it! Spent half the day after we put it out just staring

Bought this for my cat who always seemed interested in running water to try it out and he absolutely loved it! Spent half the day after we put it out just staring at it watching the water run, and it's been his preferred water dish ever since, barely touches the regular water bowl now. Unfortunately, I got this back in June and the motor has already gone out. We cleaned it regularly, followed the instructions, but it started getting fairly loud in recent days before just refusing to start up again today. Really unfortunate I have to find a replacement already.

Nice fountain and customer service

Our cat, who loved drinking from the bathroom sink, prefers this fountain instead. Great! Then about a month or so after buying it, I cleaned it out and it stopped working well as others have mentioned. The water flow was weak and dribbly. I thought it was the pump. However, I called the customer service number listed on Chewy and the woman was able to help me fix the problem in 5 minutes. Turns out the pump easily lifts out of the bowl, which I hadn't realized, and there was a bunch of hair stuck in the intake on the bottom of the pump. Easily cleaned out and voila! the pump worked again like new. She also mentioned that the inside of the pump may need to be cleaned out some day, and to see the cleaning video on their website pioneerpets.com; it didn't sound difficult to do. I am very happy that the fountain is working again, and that the customer service experience was so good. Highly recommend!

What's that?

Lucy cat loves drinking out of a gentle stream of water from the bathroom faucet, so we thought this would be a great product for her. At first she was curious but cautious, creeping up on it and jumping back when it frightened her. Next she batted the water in the bowl. She ignored it for a few days and then explored more frequently. I thought about putting a gold fish in the bowl but didn't want murder in the kitchen. It took about a week but now she drinks from the "waterfall," which means that I no longer have to run the bathroom sink. I can always tell by her wet head when she has been "immersing" herself at the drink station.

The design works really well.

All of our cats (we now have 6) enjoy using this cat fountain. This is our second one. The first lasted ~15 years but the motor finally gave out. I liked the filter

All of our cats (we now have 6) enjoy using this cat fountain. This is our second one. The first lasted ~15 years but the motor finally gave out. I liked the filter of the old one better than this one. It felt sturdier, but it runs well and is easy to clean. Plus everybody likes it, especially the kittens.
