Is this a complete and balanced meal for cats?

Answer by ChewyJul 03, 2025
This is not classified as a 'complete and balanced' meal for cats by AAFCO standards. It’s crafted with natural ingredients and is nutrient-rich, but the company chooses not to add synthetic vitamins or minerals required for official complete and balanced labeling—there may be minor shortfalls in certain nutrients. The food is grain-free, gluten-free, and suitable for most cats, including seniors or those with sensitivities.

3 cats did not like, cost to return

Tried this with my 2 indoor cats and 1 outdoor cats. Once they smell it, they did not touch it. Trying to return it. This is the first time ever I need ship it back

Tried this with my 2 indoor cats and 1 outdoor cats. Once they smell it, they did not touch it. Trying to return it. This is the first time ever I need ship it back with shipping label provided to FedEx. I am struggling to find a box since FedEx will charge me 7 bucks. Stay away from this food if you simply want to try new food for your cats. Not too happy with Chewy after being over 11 years as a customer.

NEEDS TO BE PACKAGED DIFFERENTLY FROM THE DOG FOOD!!!

The packaging photo -- and the colors in real life - is identical to the dog food!! I regularly order the Portland dog food in Salmon and Chicken, and when I searched

The packaging photo -- and the colors in real life - is identical to the dog food!! I regularly order the Portland dog food in Salmon and Chicken, and when I searched the site for "Portland DOG food" this came up... I clicked, not realizing a) that the search function was so terrible that cat food would come up in a search for DOG FOOD, and b) the colors and packaging, on the site, look exactly like the dog versions. I didn't realize until I picked up the package at home and it was all squishy. Money down the drain.

Easy on my cats stomach

Pumpkin is soothing to the GI system in cats. When my girl has an upset belly, this is my go to for her.

Loves them

My picky boy lives these, especially the chicken. They're very fine pate mush which makes it easier for him to eat it too since he's elderly

While the food is gravy-like with small bits of chicken or salmon, my picky cat has determined it’s a hit-or-miss food. On the other hand, my 1 yr old cat gobbles every last bit. So in my book, it’s a win.

Cats turned up their noses

To introduce them to this new variety, I mixed it with their existing food. Maybe it was the texture, but you should have seen the looks I was getting from them

Pumpkin is the solution for sensitive tummies

Pleasantly surprised that my picky older cat loved this puree variety and that it really helped his stomach/stool issues. A touch pricey but worth it.
