How does this help prevent kidney failure?

Urinary infections are one of the causes of kidney failure in cats. The litter grows no bacteria and it does not stick to the coat of the cat. By using this litter, the cat is able to keep their genitals cleaner which in turn will decrease urinary tract infections and lower their risk of kidney failure.
I'm used to clumping litter. How do you clean the litter box and how frequently must you completely change the litter?

You should remove solid waste daily and rake crystals to ensure freshness. One application of litter will typically last two weeks depending upon use. After two weeks, completely dump the contents of the box and wash with mild soap and hot water.
How do you determine how much litter is needed? I have 3 cats (16, 16, & 20), multiple UTIs per cat, 2 younger in 1st stage renal failure, one of the 2 also has hypertension & hyperthyroidism. Pretty Litter states 1 - 8lb bag/box = 24 lbs/month. Is your product similar?

Dr. Elsey recommends filling your litter box with 1 inch of litter. A single litter box filled with Dr. Elsey's Senior can handle multiple cats but we recommend using more than one litter box if you have more than one cat. Also, take into consideration how often your cats use the restroom when purchasing this litter.
