The recommended feeding amounts indicated are based upon the average nutritional needs of an adult dog with normal activity. Factors, such as a dog's metabolism, breed size, activity level, age and whether the dog is spayed or neutered, will affect the amount of Purina ONE needed to maintain an ideal body condition. If you find that your dog is losing weight or becomes overweight when fed these amounts, please adjust accordingly. To help your dog maintain an ideal body condition, monitor your dog's weight on a regular basis, making sure that his ribs are easily felt and the waist is visible when viewed from above.
Puppies: Start puppies on moistened Purina ONE as early as they will nibble at solid foods, generally 3-4 weeks of age. Feed pups (to six months of age) all of the moistened or dry Purina ONE they will consume at intervals throughout the day. If water is added, use no more than one part warm (not hot) liquid to four parts Purina ONE, changing frequently to ensure freshness. If fed dry, this formula may be kept before pups at all times.
Reproduction: Purina ONE provides the extra nutrition needed by reproducing females in stages of gestation and lactation. Food consumption may vary during gestation, so feed the amount needed to maintain the pregnant female's good body condition. Food intake may double or even quadruple during lactation.
Please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from his current food and a little more Purina ONE until you're feeding Purina ONE exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

When I adopted my dog four months ago, he was underfed and was a mere 28 pound, skinny pup. He loves the Lamb & Rice and gobbles everything up. I have been feeding him this dry food for four months and he has gained some weight and is now 46 pounds, his coat is shiny and he looks and feels healthy and well.
I thought I had messed up but it turns out I definitely didn’t. I ordered lamb and rice and received chicken & rice. With a new baby it took me a while to notice, and I assumed I messed up. Pretty frustrating. Chicken was fine. We prefer the lamb
My dogs have been on purina their whole life. The past two bags I’ve received had huge clumps of food together like it was mushed and dried that way or something got in the bag one. On top of that my dogs haven’t reacted well to these last batches I received. Either way I am just going to change their food and see how they do. I love purina but with the quality and my dogs reactions I don’t want to continue with it.
My dogs have sensitive skin and stomachs. We use to use chicken and rice. They all started itching so severe that there were sores and scratching their mouths. I switched to lamb and rice. It was great. Skin was getting better. Now it’s happening again. I guess I will have to switch brands. I don’t know what they changed but it’s not the same.
Dogs love the product. Unfortunately, the shipper is unable to follow delivery instructions. My 82 year old mother is not able to lug this large bag around so shipping label specifically says to leave the bag at the carport door and they continue to leave it at the front door. I live in another state and am not able to help her bring it into the house. Chewy says I have to contact thier shipper!
My little guy loves Purina One Lamb and Rice. This was actually recommended by Vet because my dog is a mixed breed (Pug and Labrador). Even though he is relatively small he still has the energy of the larger part of his breed. It's easy for him to digest and apparently he absolutely loves the taste. He's a rescue dog and he is my emotional support pet, so I will only give him the best and Purina One is the BEST. Even though it's a SLIGHTLY higher priced that some other brands, I was happy my Daughter-in-law got a coupon from Chewy and I was able to buy a very LARGE bag that will surely last. Thank you for helping to keep my FurBaby healthy, fit and happy.
Ricco and Cisco eat lamb and rice Nutro now but seemed bored with the food. I mix half Nutro and half Purina One for both now. No loose stools and actually stools are better; no upsets. Ricco seems to sleep much better and seems much more comfortable after he eats now.
Our dog has been using Purina Lamb & Rice kibble for the past 2 years. He has a sensitive stomach, and after trying many foods this was one that was great. We opened our new bag about 6 weeks ago and within a day or two his poops were extremely soft/liquidy and did not improve. We had some of our old bag left over, so we switched back to that and he improved almost instantly. I spoke with Purina today and they let me know they changed the formula for nearly ALL of their food back in February. The changes included 'ingredient alignment' (whatever that means) and a replacement for the color that now uses vegetable juice. I wish Purina would be very transparent when these changes are made so our pups don't have to suffer, and we don't have to figure out what could be wrong. The Purina rep let me know of 2 of their kibbles that were not changed (yet) and is sending me a coupon to try them, which I'm not even sure we will take the chance. Be very careful buying this, and even if you've been using it regularly.
Started my dogs on this food a few months ago due to it being cheaper and I was wanting to feed my dogs something more “natural” I should say. My dogs have the softest and shiniest coats, Healthy bowel movements and have also lost weight! It also keeps them in really good shape and give them healthy energy.
My dog is a picky eater. I have been trying for years to get her to eat like a normal dog. I have tried chicken, hamburger, add ins.. soft food, EVERYTHING to no avail. Sometimes she'll eat her hard food if I put something on it... but 2 days later she doesn't want it again. She got kennel cough from daycare. Had to take meds w food. But trying to get her to eat is a chore. I was literally down to freeze dried burgers and milkbones. Until, I told my boyfriend to pick up some blue buffalo lamb and rice (she used to eat that occasionally, after I mixed it w cat food or whatever).. my boyfriend mistakenly picked up purina one lamb and rice... I thought for sure she'd push it away but dang if she didn't eat the whole bowl.. it's been 7 days and everyday she finishes her dinner. Seriously, if you have a picky dog.. try this.. it worked for us.. at least for 7 days.. wish me luck that it continues.
