The recommended feeding amounts indicated are based upon the average nutritional needs of an adult dog with normal activity. Factors, such as a dog's metabolism, breed size, activity level, age and whether the dog is spayed or neutered, will affect the amount of Purina ONE needed to maintain an ideal body condition. If you find that your dog is losing weight or becomes overweight when fed these amounts, please adjust accordingly. To help your dog maintain an ideal body condition, monitor your dog's weight on a regular basis, making sure that his ribs are easily felt and the waist is visible when viewed from above.
Transition Instructions
Although you'll be anxious to see the difference Purina ONE can make in your dog, please allow 7 - 10 days to ease the transition from your dog's current food. Each day, simply feed a little less of the previous food and a little more Purina ONE until you're feeding Purina ONE exclusively. This gradual transition will help avoid dietary upsets.

What is the difference between this food and Purina Pro Plan Focus sensitive skin and stomach?
Answer by • Oct 15, 2019
The Purina ONE’s SmartBlend Sensitive Systems Formula starts with real salmon as the first ingredient, along with easily digestible rice and oatmeal, as well as other ingredients to nurture your dog's sensitive stomach. Every serving is high in protein to help support strong muscles and a healthy heart, while natural sources of glucosamine support your pup’s joint health. Plus, the crunchy texture of the kibble encourages healthy teeth and gums. The Purina Pro Plan Focus Adult Sensitive Skin & Stomach Formula is made with nutrient-rich salmon as the first ingredient for a protein-rich recipe your dog will crave and love. Plus, it has prebiotic fiber for sensitive stomach for a highly-digestible formula that nourishes the beneficial bacteria found in your dog's intestine.
It says "animal fat", can you say whether it's chicken fat or lamb fat or pork fat? My dog is allergic to chicken, egg, duck, turkey, and lamb.
Answer by • Mar 02, 2018
The Animal Fat in this product is derived from cattle that’s used to help promote your pet’s healthy energy. This ingredient doesn't contain the allergen that the animal protein contains.
Joe was a rescue boarder collie when I adopted him his coat was very dry and skin extremely flaky he scratched so much .I put him on Purina one skin and coat it took about 2 months to completely solve the problem , Joes coat is now gorgeous. It’s so shiny that it almost looks wet. No more dry skin. No more scratching no more crazy shedding,Best food I’ve ever fed. any dog. And no need to waste all this money on coat and skin supplements.

Caused skin allergies
I switched my golden retriever to this food after he was old enough to come off puppy chow. Shortly after, he developed a skin allergy and started licking his paw raw. His ears also started bothering him and getting red, raw spots. Not only that, but he also stopped showing interest in eating and would let his food sit all day long without touching it. My female was the same way but I assumed she was just a grazer. However, my male showing no interest caught my attention because he always ate his entire bowl as soon as he was fed.
I switched them both back to Acana and they immediately cleaned their bowls. I’m curious to see if his skin allergies clear up as well.

Top 1000 Contibutor
palatable and affordable
Generally I use Proplan SPORT, but it was a tight month due to some unplanned expenses.
This has been well received by my 7yo dane girl.
I think she likes the flavor more than her normal food, but as expected she has to eat a lot more of this to maintain body weight.
I can’t say I’ve notice a change in her coat (her normal food is chicken based) but overall she seems happy.

What happen?
What happened to the quality of this product? My dog that is never sick or has any issues or accidents has not stopped in over a month of diarrhea. It is so bad. I even switched from this purina to another and still the same. Purina was our fav for years and now we need to clearly change. I'm disgusted with purina at this rate. Changing back to diamonds.

My dog loves this
I bought this because my dog needs help with her skin and cost. Allergies this summer left her with scabs on her skin. Got her an allergy shot, prebiotic, and this new food. She gobbles this food down.

Formula change
This food used to be good until they changed the formula in Feb/March of 2023. Dog food companies do not need to advertise that they changed formulas but I immediately knew because the food looked different, it had a lot of specs on it. After a bag or 2 of the new formula it started giving my dogs GI problems so I will be switching brands!

Dogfood
My dogs did not like it. It was to small for large dogs. I even boiled chicken to grind up in it, and they still did not like it.

Great Food
Great food but my dog doesn't like Salmon unfortunately. I fed it to my other dogs as a treat to feed it.

Not good
Had to throw the first bag away, the kibble was greenish and the food stunk really bad. It sure if I should start buying from the store cause this sits to long on the shelf.
