I have a 7 months, 83lb Akita should I feed him this one or should I look for the adult one?
Answer by ChefFeb 11, 2023
The Akita is still a puppy at that age. The puppy food has nutrients, vitamins, etc. It needs for brain and health development at that age. Most large breeds aren't considered fully grown until 18 to 24 months. If in doubt, always consult your Veterinarian.

What does this company consider a puppy age range to be? Trying to decide if I need puppy or adult dog food as my rescue is about 8/9 months old.
Answer by ChewySep 13, 2019
A puppy is generally considered an adult when they stop growing taller. Typically for small breeds this is between 9-12 months, medium breeds around 12 months and large breeds closer to 15 months. We always encourage reaching out to your vet for the best results for your little one.

Is this made in the USA?
Answer by ChewyMay 17, 2020
This food is made in the United States.

Helping our senior

One of our senior rescues has been having trouble keeping weight on and After getting a hair ball (yes apparently dogs get hairballs too) we needed something more gentle on his esophagus/tummy. We have seen dramatic results in his bowel movements so we decided to keep him on it. He is now gaining weight back, gas is greatly reduced and his bowel movements are much for formed and firm than before. I love that they use broth instead of water for processing. High protein and fat content for weight gain and meaningful ingredients, they say it and they actually mean it : no fillers in here. Very pleased with this product.

Donation4dogs

This was part of a donation to the Valley River Humane Society Murphy, NC. This is a small town that relies on the working people to help. They could benefit from donations from companies like yours.

Over whelming fishy odor!

Normally like this product for my boxers but this last 12 pack had a very strong, unbearable fishy odor. You don’t want that on your digs breath. Expiration was 2024. Most likely will pass on this from now on. The odor was just too much!

Would give negative stars if possible

Caused my dogs to have smelly diarrhea. Only added a little to their dry food and the next day the diarrhea showed up. After I stopped the diarrhea went away. This food is probably contaminated with some kind of bacteria.

Old Standby

I bought this for my son's huskie and hound dog. They haven't had any Purina One for a while so they ate it all up. They are both extremely snoopy, and I have been trying a lot of different brands to tempt them. It was a pleasant surprise to see them clean up their bowls of a less expensive brand. I bought the puppy food as it was on sale.

Plastic pieces

Normally I'd say this food is good but I've found the occasional piece of plastic in a can that looks like a green fishing wire. Not a fan of that.

Jus a picky pup

This is a good product, my pup is being picky tho and wouldn't eat it. Had to end up giving most of the case to my sister

decent dog food

My pup does not particularly care for the taste, but she will eat it once she is hungry enough, which is a step up from most of the kibbles I have tried. She also does not seem to have digestive issues as with many other brands. I gave a few cans to my neighbor who is fostering a puppy and her pup woofed down the food, so it must taste good. Sadly, I will keep looking for things that my puppy will actually want to eat.

Puppy Likes It

I was glad to find that there's a puppy formula since I feed Purina One to all my other dogs.
