Something has changed...
Very upset with Purina! I have been using this for years after my male cat had to have surgery for a blockage and was unable to urinate. We had chosen this based on reviews years ago and seemed to be the best option since the vet recommended food brand was going to be double the cost. Just recently I had gotten my normal auto ship from Chewy and both food bags had been expired for 7 months. Chewy apologized and issued 2 more bags. I received them and those were also expired. I can't believe Purina is sending expired food bags. I had noticed for the last few months my cats have been vomiting and refusing to eat like they used to but never expected that it had something to possibly do with the food until I had noticed reviews had gone down on this brand in the past year. Check your expiration dates if you have this food! Chewy issued a refund and I thank them for that but not sure what is going on with this food.
Not the best
Unfortunately my cat would vomit after eating it. Not sure what was going on with that, but it is a wasted bag of food. He likes Iams urinary tract formula and seems to keep it down, so we’re going back to that one, although the Purena has better ingredients. It’s probably just my cat. Purena has very good products and I wouldn’t discourage anyone from trying it.

I had to switch to this to help lessen urinary issues with my 4 & 7yo boiz. Biggest challenge is the kernels seem much harder and definitly larger than other purina dry foods. My persnickity boiz are so far not a big fan and have trouble chewing the bits as they also both have some teeth issues too. I am going to give it 3 months and see.
Making cats sick
I think this food needs to be recalled. There are quite a few recent reviews that cats have been getting sick after eating this food. My cats have been throwing up too! I thought my big boy was just being a pig and eating too much but now I have read other reviews I think there is something wrong with it. You need to stop selling this food!!
New formula?
We have been using this for the last three years and loving it. Great alternative to the pricey vet-formula diets. This last bag though was completely different. Not sure if it was a bad batch or if they changed the formula but one of our furry friends has had some tummy troubles (diarrhea) as a result. I hope the next bag we get is back to normal!
Cheaper than prescription food
I've been buying this now for a few months. I think its doing well. I do monitor one cat more for urinary issues, as he is diabetic. But the other 2 seem to like this and eat it. Its not the favorite of the foods, as I do mix about 3 or 4. But if it adds all the nutrients they need to their diet, and they eat it, I'll continue to buy it. So far so good.
Be careful
There is something wrong with the recent bags, and it is not just a formula change. I had to do a hard switch to Iams and the cats immediately began eating after several days of vomiting and starving themselves. Purina owes their customers an explanation for this.
formula changed
I have fed my cats this food for two years and have had no issues before recently. the formula had to of changed because my cat now throws up every time he eats this food & I mean every single time. I had no issues with him throwing up before this and have noticed that my other cats will refuse to eat it now as well. I ordered another bag of this to see if it was a bad bag but I am still having issues with my cats eating it and throwing it up so I will not be buying this for my cats again.
Seemed to be working then didn't
I have two cats that have urinary issues and had them on this. They liked it until the past few bags. It goes uneaten or they throw it up. The kibble also seems to look different then bags I have had in the past. Maybe they changed the formula? Regardless, my one cat had another issue recently. It worked in the past and currently does not. I will be trying the IAMs and see how that goes with them.
Made my cats so sick!!!
I should have read the reviews because clearly this has happened to others. My cat vomited so much and had diarrhea after she cat this food. I thought we were going to have to take her to the vet. She had to at least thrown up 20 times and pooed 10. It was horrible. She was so weak she could barely walk. Thankfully a day later she stopped and seems to be alright now.
