Bad dog food
I recently bought this dog food on advice from my veterinarian and upon opening the bag I noticed a foul smell. I didn't think too much of it at first but as I fed my dog the smell kept getting worse. Today I dumped the food out in order to examine the contents. Towards the bottom of the bag there was this big glob of rancid smelling "stuff". I don't know what it was but that bag is heading to the garbage. I feel like I should get a replacement bag.
Not for Labs
Our 10 year old yellow Labrador retriever wouldn't touch this stuff. With all other dog food, she inhales the kibbles so fast, with such gusto, that my spouse asks her if she even tasted what she just snarfed down. Oddly enough, the cat loved it. Won't be purchasing this again.
Purina Pro Plan
This has turned feeding time around for my yellow lab. I used to do everything, adding lunch meat, leftover dinner from the night before, gravy, broth just to get her to eat her food. So many people raved about Purina Pro Plus, I thought I’d give it a try. I know she loves salmon so I chose this one from many. And she loves it. I don’t have to doctor it up at all. I love that she eats without adding people “extras”.
Allergic reaction
Our black lab had a terrible reaction to this food after eating it for almost a year. We had to take him the the vet and get him on multiple medications to him help. He broke out in a red rash all over his body and then it all turned to terrible scabs leaving him very itchy and uncomfortable. We switched to a ground turkey, pumpkin puree, and green bean diet until we could figure out what was causing it. He is on a new food and medication and finally looking and feeling better. I would skip this reformulation, especially if you have a dog with allergies..which we do and that is why we put him on a salmon diet..
All of the pups love this food!
I have 9 large breed dogs and they have all been thriving on this food after many failed attempts to find an ideal food for a multi dog household. No upset stomachs, diarrhea, or constant foul gas like on previous foods. They love it whether it’s dry, water or broth added or wet food topped. My only concern is the price. Hopefully this food stays fairly affordable.
best food
We started with the purine pro puppy chicken flavored. I switched during COVID to get this due to the other was unavailable and this was cheaper. Once I switched my dog stopped itching , and coat looks better than ever! I do not have to anything additional and use it also as a treat on walks. Only problem is that the bag has shrunk and the price increases please let me know if there is a cheaper alternative.
Best dog food ever
I have a golden retriever and two labs that mean the world to me. I switched to Purina Pro Plan Adult Shredded Blend Salmon & Rice Blend roughly one month ago and they absolutely love it! I wish I made the change sooner. The second I open the closet door where there food is in a tote, they all get very excited and start jumping, wagging tails, and can hardly wait until I put there bowl down for them.
Diarrhea
Switched to purina pro plan per vet recommendations. Diarrhea and sick dogs throughout. Tested for parasites. Treated with Probiotics. Switched to sensitive stomach with o improvement. Finally changed to science diet and Diarrhea stopped.
Dry
The last few shipments I have had on this food - Purina Pro Plan Complete Essential Salmon and Rice has been really dry and a lot of bits and pieces and food plummeted into dog food dust.....my dogs have not been liking it - switching food. Pro Plan has been the only brand I have used and my girls have loved it until these past few deliveries.
Bag of doughnuts
Vinnie 19 month golden (bag of doughnuts) as we call him! Thinks his new food bag is full Of doughnuts! Absolutely loves his food! Tucker his big brother is equally excited! Tucker is a nine year old golden who recently showed little interest in eating! No longer the case. Even prefers his food over treats!!!!
