Hmmmm....one star knocked off due to constant label change. Also seems to be out of stock occasionally. Why does Purina need to keep changing the color of the label and the printing format? The puppy that is now a dog has been on this food since she was 8 weeks old, now one year old, and her Mother eats the same food. There has not been any stomach issues outside of the usual puppy consuming things she shouldn't situations but I think Purina needs to keep appearances consistent due to the specificity of this formula.
So I have a husky and I use this food as a topper for her dinner and she loves it. I put a cup of dry kibble down in the morning for her to eat as she pleases but for dinner she get another cup and about a spoon full of this food and she loves it. My dog will sometimes come and yell at me for dinner time because she knows that she is getting this. One case of this food will last me a few months because I only use this as a topper and I only have the one dog.
I have been feeding Proplan salmon and rice wet food with dry food for about a year with no problems, however, the order I received this week is not the same formula. First ingredient is fish followed by liver. This food gives my dog lots of gas and loose stools. Very disappointed in the latest change to the wet food. So far the dry food has not changed.
I have 3 dogs, 1 loves it, 1 only eats a little of it, and the other one which is a Siberian husky will not eat it at all. I thought she would be the one that would woof it down. So to review it, I’m not the one who can advise because my dogs have mixed reactions to the food. It may change if I give each of them just a taste with their other food.
My dogs have allergies I usually buy pro plan sensitive skin and stomach with salmon. They now have liver added, ingredients water fish liver then salmon. Best B/F may 2025. I have been buying this for 3 years and it never showed liver in the ingredients. It made my two dogs sick. Check your dates
Scooper really loves this food - he always eats this part first, before the dry version that I mix it with. I can say that he seems to be less itchy, but he still has a problem. I’m guessing it’s partially due to what he was eating before and this food is helping, but there are some other things that are causing him to be itchy. I’ve ruled out the shampoo and he has no bugs, so we’re going back to the vet. I’d like to repeat that the food did help his problem somewhat. I also like the fact that he’s getting plenty of omega three fatty acids with the salmon. This is excellent for his health now and when he gets older.
A recent change to this food is very disappointing. After my dog's previous food was discontinued I tried this one. It was great at first, but now I noticed the change in the new cans. I don't see carrot bits anymore and now there is liver. My dog has allergies and can only eat fish. I also noticed that he does not finish it. I won't buy it anymore.
Our dog has an extremely sensitive stomach. We have been feeding her this food for months, and were worried when we couldn’t find it for awhile and then realized the formula changed. We have had no issues with the new formula, and our pup’s stomach and bowel moments have even been better than before.
I have no problem with the quality of the food but over the past year and a half Purina has reformulated this food TWICE, reducing the amount of calories per can each time. They do not do any marketing to inform pet owners of the reduced calorie counts. Be aware. They're trying to force you to buy more food by requiring more cans to get the same amount of nutrition.
My 11.5 yr old pit has had tummy majority of her life. Our vet recommended this line and it’s been the only food to work for her tummy. She’s been eating it for well over five years now. The past several months it’s been extremely hard to find. Out of stock everywhere and if you do find it its $5 more a 12 pack then it used to be. Come to find out the ingredient list and macronutrients have changed (less calorically dense). Salmon is lower on the list with “fish” being higher. They’ve added liver (above salmon!) and oatmeal! Pieces of carrot are totally gone. Yet Purina is still advertising it as the same thing. So we’re paying more for a lower quality product. This is extremely deceptive. Not to mention dangerous being that it’s made for dogs with health issues/food sensitivities. New reviews on their website mention dogs getting diarrhea from it. Extremely disappointed in Purina.
