Feed up to 2 to 3 times this amount to kittens or ad libitum. Pregnant or nursing cats may require 2 to 4 times their normal feeding. Continue to adjust as needed to maintain your kitten or adult cat in ideal body condition.

Transition Instructions

Gradually transition your pet to any new food over the course of 7-14 days to help avoid the digestive upset that abrupt changes in diet can cause. If your pet tends to be on the sensitive side, it may be best to take a little extra time.

Start by feeding your pet a mix of 25% new food and 75% old food for the first few days.
Then, increase the amount of new food to about 50% and feed that half-and-half mix for a few days.
Proceed to feeding 75% new food/25% old food for the next few days.
Complete the transition by feeding just the new food on its own.

Great pate but expensive

My two cats gobble this up (they love all the flavors). However it’s very pricey compared to Fancy Feast pates so I don’t usually buy it. If the price went down

Our cats like all 3 flavors. I wish the individual cans of Vital Systems cat food was carried in more stores, as my cats get tired of flavors so I like to rotate

These cans are a small enough portion that I can just pull them open using the handy pull tab, and dump the entire can into my cat’s bowl. The food itself is a soft enough texture that I don’t need to break it up, but also not too watery. No need to scoop out a portion and store the rest. Cat absolutely loves it. I received the multi pack, and the tuna and salmon flavors are a bit fishy but as much as expected. I truly think my cat is happier now that I feed him this! He begs every night until he gets it.

Dented cans

I had 4 dented cans. One was so damaged that it was leaking out of the pull top. I will not order anymore cans that need to be shipped. Waste of money.

I have three cats so I opened all three flavors for them and let them try them all when I first got this food. First of all, my cats went absolutely crazy for it!

The consistency of the food was nice and it did NOT mess with their digestive systems as some do. The ingredient list is nice as it is not a mile long and has ingredients I trust. This is a good choice for soft food if you are looking for a new food for your babies.

Messy and smelly, but cat likes it

I opened a can of the salmon flavor for my cat to try today. She’s a fairly picky eater and the food is in pate form, which she likes. There is an excess of sauce

I opened a can of the salmon flavor for my cat to try today. She’s a fairly picky eater and the food is in pate form, which she likes. There is an excess of sauce on top so even though I pulled the tab on top back slowly and without a lot of force, drops of sauce flew out and leaked down the side of the can on the floor. The fish smell is also VERY strong, which is probably why my cat enjoyed it so much- she devoured the food and licked her plate clean. To give you an idea of how strong the smell is, I cleaned up a couple of drops of sauce that had spilled on the floor. The cat and my dog were both sniffing after I cleaned the spot with dawn and water and then floor cleaner. We’ll finish off the remaining cans, but probably won’t buy again since it’s messier and the smell is more intense than what we normally get.

I have two cats—Oscar (7) and Milo (11)—and finding a food they both enjoy (and that agrees with their stomachs) hasn’t always been easy. But this Purina Pro Plan High Protein Shredded Blend has been a total win in our house! As soon as I opened the box, they were interested—and they dove right in at mealtime. I love that it has real chicken as the first ingredient and offers a nice balance of protein and nutrition for cats of all ages. The mix of crunchy kibble and tender pieces keeps it exciting for them, and I’ve noticed healthier-looking coats and good energy levels since we switched. Definitely a keeper in our rotation. Oscar and Milo give it two paws up!
