May be fed to rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other small animals.
Baby rabbits: A baby rabbit, or kit, feeds solely on its mother's milk for about the first three weeks. During the first few days, the milk contains high levels of antibodies that help protect the kit from disease. After three weeks, the kit will begin nibbling on alfalfa hay and pellets. By 7 weeks of age, baby rabbits can handle unlimited access to pellets and alfalfa hay in addition to mother's milk. Kits are usually weaned from their mother's milk by 8 weeks of age, depending on the breed.
Juveniles: Between weaning and 7 months of age, the young rabbit can have an unlimited amount of pellets and alfalfa hay. At 3 months of age, start introducing small amounts of vegetables into your rabbit's diet. Introduce one vegetable at a time. If any vegetable seems to cause digestive problems, avoid feeding it in the future.
Young adults: Young adult rabbits from age 7 months to 1 year should be introduced to timothy and grass hays, and it should be available all-day long. The fiber in the hay is essential for their digestive systems to work properly. At this point, they will require little alfalfa hay, as well as fewer pellets. Instead of offering unlimited pellets, a good rule of thumb is 1/2 cup of pellets per 6 lbs. of body weight daily. To make up for the nutritional loss, you must increase your rabbit's intake of vegetables and hay. You can feed your rabbit some fruits during this stage, but because of calories, limit them to no more than 1-2 ounces per 6 pounds of body weight daily.
Mature adults: Mature adult rabbits should be fed unlimited timothy, grass hay, and oat hay. Once again, you should reduce the pellet portion of the diet. A standard guideline is 1/4 cup of pellets per 6 lbs. of body weight per day. Several servings of vegetables are required (2 cups per 6 pounds of body weight daily).

The Hay is of good quality, but I think it was mostly first cut
By Herbert on Dec 17, 2020
I like Rabbit Hole Hay. I usually purchase from the manufacturer, but Chewy had a discount so I purchased through Chewy.com. The hay arrived quickly and well packaged. It was a box in a box, so very happy. When purchased throughRabbit Hole Hay, it was not double boxed. The hay, though, is in a plastic bag, which is great to keep the dust somewhat under control. Unfortunately, the top half looked like first cut. Many pods, not much of the soft stem. I was a little disappointed in the hay, but not with Chewy. Chewy has great customer service! I put a recommend for this item because the hay is fresh, and a little less dust than Small Pet Select. I did have to hand pick to find the grass I like Rabbit Hole Hay. QUALITY GOING DRASTICALLY DOWNHILL
By PLAYTIME on Oct 23, 2020
I was thrilled when I received my first order of Rabbit Hole because the quality was exceptionally good. Fresh, green and NO WASTE AT ALL which was the reason I started trying different brands after years being a loyal OXBOW timothy hay customer. This last batch of hay from Rabbit Hole had gone up in price about $10.00 for a 20 lb box which I went through with the purchase because I figured it was better to pay more for a much better quality of hay. Well DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! Paid $50 for 20 pounds of half of the box being dust. I can pay $4.00 more to get 50 pounds of the same quality from OXBOW. NO THANKS!!!! Tried a couple of others which seem to be good. Won't review until I've I was thrilled when I received my first order of Rabbit Hole because the quality was exceptionally good. It’s a gamble...moldy or over-dried!
By ShannonNotSalmon on Oct 17, 2020
My 2 guinea pigs won’t eat it & I can’t say I blame them!! The 1st box I ordered was so soft & green they loved it! Got another one, it was wet & moldy a few handfuls into it so threw it out. The next 2 boxes (both auto ship in close succession I’d forgotten about) arrived. The 3rd one is SO dry & hard it poked my hand & made my finger bleed from the hard stalks in it. Didn't get any better towards the center so set it aside & opened the 4th box. This box is a little softer but is very brown like the 2nd box I’d received, slightly damp & smells moldy. My girls won’t eat it & I don’t blame them. I’m not going to feed my pigsters this junk. What a waste of money!! Hope I can save someone else in my situation some money. I love Chewy but I will NOT order this brand again!! (And yes, I made darn sure to cancel the auto ships.) … more

High quality product and top-flight customer service
By LoyalCustomer on Oct 29, 2020
I have been purchasing Rabbit Hole Timothy Hay for over a year and a half now for my buns. Rabbit Hole Hay is top quality. I had previously purchased Oxbow, but my buns ate 10% of it and left the remaining 90% (I used it for compost). Then I tried Small Pet Select - their Timothy hay was brown and dried up - 100% ended up in the compost pile. Then I found Rabbit Hole Hay!!! My buns love it! It's nice and green and smells fresh the way hay should smell. And their customer service is unsurpassed. My buns are happy hoppers!

I’m sure other bunns love this...
By Angie on Jan 19, 2021
... but my picky bunnies didn’t. I feel bad that they didn’t like it, considering that it’s a bit more expensive than their usual SPS.

Stems left
By Lesby on Nov 6, 2020
Not all hay is eaten and the parts leftover are thick short stems. Looks like straw. I ordered sampler packs from RH directly before buying larger amount from chewy and did not have this issue. Will try another bag to see if this was an anomaly.

My rabbit has never eaten so much hay!
By michelle on Aug 29, 2020
I recently adopted a rabbit from a rescue. I gave her the hay that they gave me, as well as Oxbow Western Timothy Hay. She seemed to like it just fine. Then this Rabbit Hole Hay was on sale on Chewy and I thought I'd give it a try. Now she won't stop eating it - she's literally munching on it all day! Needless to say I'm happy that she's happy, and will be purchasing this hay again.

Dirt clods
By not4rabbits on Nov 1, 2020
Had small dirt clods. Rabbits eat hay however because chewy is out of their favorite hay. Bought this one expensive and had dirt. If I find another will add photo

Horrible quality
By Dejj on Sep 11, 2020
The quality of the hay is inconsistent and poor. Contains noxious weeds and a lot of brown hay. Too many hard, dried out stems present and a majority of the product has been wasted. My guinea pigs won’t eat it.

Magically delicious
By LEWo on Jun 16, 2020
I didn't think I had finicky buns, but they weren't eating that much hay. They ate Timothy pellets and lots of greens and I thought that was that. I tried this hay and was amazed that it would magically disappear every time I put it in their enclosure. I have seen many different hays ( I volunteer at a bunny shelter) and this is really nice! NO DUST! No tiny bits! And it isn't quite as dry as most hay. It really seems like it is hand-packed. They are now eating much more hay and I feel like I am caring for my buns the best way I can. Try this hay!
