Baby rabbits: A baby rabbit, or kit, feeds solely on its mother's milk for about the first three weeks. During the first few days, the milk contains high levels of antibodies that help protect the kit from disease. After three weeks, the kit will begin nibbling on alfalfa hay and pellets. By 7 weeks of age, baby rabbits can handle unlimited access to pellets and alfalfa hay in addition to mother's milk. Kits are usually weaned from their mother's milk by 8 weeks of age, depending on the breed.
Juveniles: Between weaning and 7 months of age, the young rabbit can have an unlimited amount of pellets and alfalfa hay. At 3 months of age, start introducing small amounts of vegetables into your rabbit's diet. Introduce one vegetable at a time. If any vegetable seems to cause digestive problems, avoid feeding it in the future.
Young adults: Young adult rabbits from age 7 months to 1 year should be introduced to timothy and grass hays, and it should be available all-day long. The fiber in the hay is essential for their digestive systems to work properly. At this point, they will require little alfalfa hay, as well as fewer pellets. Instead of offering unlimited pellets, a good rule of thumb is 1/2 cup of pellets per 6 lbs. of body weight daily. To make up for the nutritional loss, you must increase your rabbit's intake of vegetables and hay. You can feed your rabbit some fruits during this stage, but because of calories, limit them to no more than 1-2 ounces per 6 pounds of body weight daily.
Mature adults: Mature adult rabbits should be fed unlimited timothy, grass hay, and oat hay. Once again, you should reduce the pellet portion of the diet. A standard guideline is 1/4 cup of pellets per 6 lbs. of body weight per day. Several servings of vegetables are required (2 cups per 6 pounds of body weight daily).

This hay is softer with a rich green - more like third cutting. Our bunnies go crazy for it! We are still in search for a good second cutting hay that will help keep their teeth filed down, but this is a great supplement in the meantime!
I gave this hay four stars because it did not seem like it was second cut medium hay. Although after a month it is still fresh looking and smelling so I am happy about that. I unfortunately feel a lot of it has gone to waste scattered throughout my buns cage though because of the cut as she enjoys a mixture of soft and hard hay. She has also gone through it a lot faster because it does not fill her up as much being how soft it is.
We normally love this hay and have it on autoship. Because of the number of littles we have who like it, we get the 20 pound box! And ordinarily it is fresh, sweet, and very high quality. However, the "fall crop" hay is very poor this year. It looks more like grass, with skinny, dried up strands and the animals just won't eat it. Very disappointing when 20 pounds will go to waste, and not up to Rabbit Hole's usual standards. :(
Shipping was free and very fast! I normally order direct from the manufacturer; this was my time trying Chewy. Product was very dry, very dull colored and any portion taken out of the box for my rabbit browned very very quickly. Order direct from manufacturer for bright green, fresh smelling hay every time. My rabbit loves loves this hay direct from the manufacturer.
We had heard how great Rabbit Hole Hay was and for the price, it should be. However, it is brittle, smells stale, and is brown. No one will eat it (and we have 15 so someone should) so that says something. Complete waste and will be thrown away. Small Pet Select and Oxbow are much high quality. Very disappointed.
our bunny is very picky about his hay, but this he has been eating consistently, so we are happy with it
As any bunny parent knows, hay is the most important part of a bunnies diet. My experience has been that it is also the most difficult thing to get them to eat (kinda like getting a kid to eat their veggies). Well, I’m happy to report that the search is over for a delectable hay for picky bunnies!!! All three of my lil finicky eaters absolutely love this stuff. They have been getting all excited when they see the hay bin come out and race over to get some of this stuff. Thank you Rabbit Hole Hay. This is one less thing I have to stress about!
Rabbit hole hay used to produce really good quality hay and it was the only brand that my picky bunny would eat. But the recent several purchases have been really disappointing - each time I received a box full of brown leftover leaves, and it was not worth the price at all. At first I thought it was a one-time incident, but after at least five boxes, I finally gave up on this brand.
Recent batch of hay was of terrible quality - brown curly pieces mixed throughout and random sticks littered in the batch. If I could use one word to describe Rabbit Hole, it would be "inconsistent". Sometimes the hay is the best quality I've ever seen (long, leafy and fresh green) and sometimes it is terrible quality like described above. However, when you're paying almost double the price vs other brands of hay, inconsistency like this is just unacceptable.
Very unsatisfied with his head. What a ride was brown Dusty and definitely not worth the price. I had ordered a 20 pound box but I’m calling to cancel that right away
