About This Item

  • Fiber-rich hay supports digestive health and encourages rabbits to chew in a side-to-side motion, which helps evenly wear down molars and prevent molar spurs.
  • Contains little protein, which helps prevent health issues like weight gain and GI stasis.
  • Hand-packed to promote fur-esh, green hay instead of dusty, dried hay.
  • Suitable to give at all times to small pets and rabbits who are 7 months old or older.
  • Coarse strands encourage your pet to act on his chewing instincts.

I grew up on a farm, making tons of hay. The most important was for it not to get rained on. Does this company guarantee that, or just go buy the cuttings.
Answer by ChewyFeb 02, 2018
The hay is grown in a field, but once harvested this hay is guaranteed to not have any additional water added to it.

Is this first cut hay good for my one year old Guinea pig?
Answer by ChewyDec 09, 2020
Young adults from age 7 months to 1 year should be introduced to timothy and grass hays, and it should be available all-day long.

Answer by ChewyJan 31, 2018
Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF): The fibrous component represents the least digestible fiber portion of forage or other roughage. Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF) is the most common measure of fiber used for animal feed analysis, but it does not represent a unique class of chemical compounds. NDF measures most of the structural components in plant cells (i.e. lignin, hemicellulose and cellulose), but not pectin.

How long are the hay pieces? Short hay 3-4 inches falls through my rabbits hay feeder and gets wasted. I'm looking for hay that is 6" or so long.
Answer by ChewyMay 09, 2019
The bulk of this hay is approximately six inches or longer.

Not Worth it

I’ve been having a lot of bad luck with hay and was hopeful this brand would turn that around but nope what I got was brown old hay that my rabbits wouldn’t eat box returned. Definitely not worth the premium price

So many ants and lower quality than before

Ants from this hay are on my whole floor that never happened before. And the hay is much thinner and less leaves than before.

Good quality and quantity for the price

Was a bit cautious about trying a different brand since I usually don’t have much luck switching things up but was really pleased that the hay was good quality and my rabbits are quite content with it!

Quality Timothy Hay

I recently had to stop buying hay from another company because the quality of their hay had declined to the point my bunny refused to eat it and pushed it out of his box. I ordered a small 5lb box of Rabbit Hole Timothy hay and two other brands of Timothy hay, for Buns to sample. Unlike the other 2 brands, Rabbit Hole hay was true first cut Timothy hay as well as looked and smelled fresh! Buns snubbed his nose at the other brands as soon as I opened them (one brand was damp and smelled funny, the other was primarily orchard grass with fragments of Timothy). When the Rabbit Hole box was opened, he started pulling pieces out and eating before I could even get it into his hay box. The Rabbit Hole hay is high quality Timothy hay like our prior company used to supply. We will be purchasing the Rabbit Hole brand going forward.

Finally some good hay

I switched over to this brand because I was increasingly displeased with Kaytee’s first cut Timothy hay. THIS is what Timothy jay is supposed to look like. This has course, long strands with VERY little dust. Of course I haven’t gotten to the very bottom of the bag, but it’s a good sign. My Guinea pigs LOVE it and have been eating it like crazy! Would recommend. Also nice to be able to buy in bulk, this might last my 3 pigs a month

Rabbits Love It

This is hands-down the freshest hay I have ever bought pre-packaged. Smells like it's fresh off the hay wagon. Nice, vibrant green color and best of all, no dust. I wish it was more affordable though; the price is fine if you're only feeding one animal - I'm feeding several rabbits so it will definitely be more of a treat to supplement their regular hay and pellets.

Short pieces, too much dust

I got this on deal, buy one get one free, but the pieces are small, and there is so much dust, which is no good for rabbits with flatter faces like my Lion Head and my Netherland Dwarf. Leads to sniffles and crusty eyes. Sure the price was pretty good, but not worth it for the quality. Won't buy again.

Hay was brown

I expected fresh, green hay but it's brown. My chinchillas prefer my usual brand so I'll go back to that.

Best hay ever

This hay is super fresh and has no dust so there is no waste. My guinea pigs love it and I love that they eat all of the hay I give them every day and it’s not all ending up on the floor of their cage.

Great Hay for Rabbits

It’s long and smells fresh without too many crumbs or dust. My rabbit loves it and can’t wait for me to feed it to him.
