I am disappointed with the lack of quality with the box I received. I know from box to box, season to season hay quality will vary but I feel like what I received should not have been sold to begin with. There is very little green flat leaf in the box. A lot of brown, very thin strands, and some weed heads that are barbed, yes barbed. I'm tossing more than my rabbits are eating. I wish I could get a picture to load but I can't.
I have been by Rabbit Hole Hay for months. Love the quality and I have never had any issues until I ordered it from Chewy. The hay arrived full of dust, was brown, and did not smell fresh as it typically would. Very disappointed.
I got the 40 lbs box. I used to buy oxbow but every bag starting becoming more and more like straw. One of my bunnies is very picky with hay and never liked it as a baby. When i put this hay in their boxes they started eating it immediately. No firm straw-like pieces! Very happy bunnies!
I first introduced my bunnies to Rabbit Hole Hay - Soft Timothy hay a year ago. My two bunnies were never great hay eaters, so I had been trying out different brands, types and textures of hay without much success. However, when I gave them the Rabbit Hole soft Timothy hay, my bunnies enthusiastically devoured it. I’ve been really thrilled to see them heartily eat this hay and so each time I re-order, I’ve purchased larger and larger amounts. Most recently, May 23 2022, I ordered a 40Lb box knowing that it would be gobbled up in a couple months. Upon opening the box, I reached in to gather a big handful of hay and was sharply jabbed in my fingers. Bits of a thistle plant were embedded in the hay. Given that this hay is marketed as “hand-packed”, I thought this thistle somehow inadvertently made its way into the box. However, as I have continued to pull hay from this box, it seems that thistle bits are mixed throughout the hay. I have never encountered this in any of my previous boxes of Rabbit Hole hay. Before giving the hay to my bunnies, I have to pick through it to remove the thistle pieces. It is just ridiculous, as my fingers get pricked and the thistle barbs/ spines stick into my skin. Of course I’d much rather have the thistles pierce my fingers than my bunnies’ delicate lips and mouths - but I can’t even ensure that I’ve safely removed all the thistle pieces. I’m worried that my bunnies could be harmed by this hay. It’s upsetting because I now have 40lbs of hay that cost $100 that I am scared to feed my rabbits.
I have some pretty picky guinea pigs when it comes to hay, and we struggle sometimes to find things they like. But so far they have loved the hay from Rabbit Hole Hay we have gotten. Its all been green with some bits of brown but that is to be expected. Smells nice. everyone really loves it. Have bought several boxes now.
Moly loves Rhh soft timothy hay is so green, but a lot of brown hay inside of the bag.The green hay only 1/3, brown hay 2/3.There aren’t hand packed,so only 2 stars.
This hay is amazing quality and my bun loved it straight away!! 10/10!
After trying at least 5 other brands of timothy hay, this is the only brand my rabbit will eat.
This is by far the best quality on the market. My guinea loves the softness of the hay but she likes the stem that is provided in that bag the best. The roughage is good for guinea pigs. I wish they had a bigger size to sell. Also for the price every 3 to 4 bags is not as fresh as it should be.
I wanted to try this for the first time and was very disappointed. The hay was very coarse and definitely not 3rd cut. It is a good thing that I bought the smallest size!
