This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
How are Royal Canin diets preserved?
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.* We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.* We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.* We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.* We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Subpar ingredients, but only food that works
By Adrian on Feb 15, 2021
First off, this is overpriced for the quality of ingredients. There are a lot of fillers here and we tried several other "healthier" foods before we came to this one. It's the only brand we found that gave our golden solid stool, and that's kind of a big deal. I'll try switching to another brand when he hits adult food, but for now, we use this--I'll add that he prefers this to the other brands we tried also.

Oakley Loves his New Food!
By Food on Jan 14, 2021
Oakley loves his new food!!! He is a happy healthy pup. We transitioned over when his veterinarian suggested he have grain in his food. Breeder had fed the liter grain-free food. Do you have a buy a certain #, get one free? It is expensive.

Royal Canin
By Goldens on Jan 17, 2021
This is the first food we have tried that our dog actually stands and eats it until it’s gone. Normally she just grazes throughout the day but with this one she eats the entire serving all at once. She loves it!

Great for Golden Retriever Puppies
By CJJake on Jan 4, 2021
Our Vet recommended Royal Canin for our puppy and he loves it. He no longer has severe gas after he eats. Glad it's made to support Goldens' systems.

LOVES THIS!!!
By ZARA on Nov 6, 2020
We switched over to this diet because he was not eating well and a 5 month old Golden Retriever should be eating like he is now. He loves this and eats approximately 4 cups a day. Also cleaning the yard is much easier with this food.
