Transition Instructions

We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are Royal Canin diets preserved?

All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.

Where do the ingredients in Royal Canin diets come from?

We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.

Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain by-products?

Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.

Why do some Royal Canin diets contain grains?

Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.

How do you ensure Royal Canin diets are safe for my pet?

Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way.

  • We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase.
  • We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food.
  • We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers.
  • We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.

How do I know which Royal Canin diet is right for my pet?

Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.

If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

Why Pure Breed Cats Need Tailored Nutrition

Even though pedigree cats are usually kept indoors, they may have breed-specific needs that go beyond the needs of other indoor cats. It's important to address those needs with specialized nutrition. When choosing a formula, keep in mind the unique characteristics of your breed, including:

Face and Jaw: Pure breed cats come in many different jaw shapes and sizes. Some breeds have broad jaws (like Ragdolls) while others have large, square-shaped jaws (like Maine Coons) or flat, short jaws (like Persians). The jaw type and even biting patterns can affect how a breed picks up kibble.

Skin Types: Not all cat breeds have the same body type. Some have long and muscular physiques while others have imposing statures that can put strain on joints. Precise levels of key nutrients help support a breed's unique needs for their body type.

Distinctive Coats: There's more to a coat than meets the eye. From different hair lengths to undercoats, each pure breed cat has a unique coat with unique needs.

Breed Specific Formulas

Every cat is unique - especially pure breed cats. After years of research and partnering with a network of veterinarians and breeders, Royal Canin has developed a line of tailor-made formulas to suit the needs of pure breed cats perfectly.

Formulated for Persian Kittens

Exclusive Kibble

Persian Kitten Dry Cat Food features a specially designed kibble that makes it easier for Persian kittens to grasp and encourages chewing.

  • Great coat enchanting food

    By on

This food was recommended for our Birman kitten from the breeder. Our senior tabby starting eating it as well, her shedding is half of what it was and dandruff is almost gone. This food is the only food we are giving our kittens. We have not experienced any hair balls and there is minimal litter box odor. Love this food, you pay for what you get great quality food.

  • breeder recommended!

    By on

We have had five Persian cats and every one came with a sample-size bag of this food when we acquired them as kittens. Our newest kitten doubled in size from four to six months old eating this food and her fur has become so soft and thick!! We have to mix it half and half with the adult Persian food because it's difficult, of course, to keep their food separate. My only complaint is that this food really should come in bigger sized bags!!!

  • Our Persians love this food

    By on

we have 2, 7 year old Persians who can be finicky about their food. The size is just right for them and they are eating the product daily. We also use another Royal Canin dry product they love as well. They are very healthy with very soft coats. I am sure the food is part of their well being

  • Terrific for All 'cats'

    By on

As we have two non Persian cats, we were surpirsed to find that the others, fully grown, took a liking to the food which we now use as treats for them in place of the commercial treats that we have been using for years.
