This is only a guide. Optimal feeding amounts may vary according to your pet's temperament, activity level and environment. If you have any questions regarding your pet's health, please contact your veterinarian.
We recommend at least a 7 day transition before you begin feeding the new food exclusively. Start by mixing 75% of the old diet with 25% of the new diet on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, mix 50% of the old diet with 50% of the new diet. On Day 5 and Day 6, mix 25% of the old diet with 75% of the new diet. On the 7th day, you can feed the new food exclusively. This allows your pet’s digestive system to smoothly adapt to the new food.
All of our dry diets are preserved naturally with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are naturally preserved and sterilized during the cooking and canning process.
We select our ingredients based on multiple factors, including the supplier’s compliance with our quality and food safety requirements, consistent availability, and on the nutrients required to meet the dietary needs of the pet.Royal Canin is making strides towards sustainability by attempting to obtain sources of raw materials as close to each manufacturing facility as possible. In some cases, we use international suppliers, because only those suppliers can offer raw materials that comply with our quality and food safety standards.
Royal Canin chooses ingredients because they deliver high-quality nutrients that support our customized pet food formulas. Using chicken by-product meal instead of chicken meal for example will allow Royal Canin to maintain its highly customized nutrient standards while achieving a more secure and sustainable supply.
Grains can be a healthy part of any cat or dog’s diet. As always, we focus on the nutrients each ingredient provides and grains can provide many important nutrients.
Our Quality and Food Safety systems are state-of-the-art and we continue to invest heavily in new technology to make sure they remain that way. We put our suppliers through a rigorous selection process that doesn’t end with our first purchase. We monitor every load delivered to our plants to verify the safety and quality of the ingredients we use to make pet food. We perform tests on finished pet foods before they are shipped to our customers. We manufacture every pet food we sell, in plants that we own; our plants are ISO 9001:2008 certified for Quality Management and ISO 22000 certified for Food Safety.
Based on size, age, lifestyle, and breed, each cat or dog has unique nutritional needs. For healthy pets, use our Product Selector to find the right diet for your cat or dog.If your pet is experiencing health issues, please refer to your veterinarian for more information. Your veterinarian will consider multiple factors when recommending an appropriate diet.

We tried this and she liked it at first by itself. Then she would only eat it with wet food. Then she would only eat the wet food and left this. I ended up donated the bag to the Humane Society. She seemed to digest it well and it settled perfectly and seemed to have high energy on it. It is too bad doesn't work for us.
So glad this food seems to be coming back! My 13 year old (almost 14) Yorkie LOVES this food so much! We had to switch over to Hill's when this one wasn't available and she was fine with it, but always needed a food topper, with this Royal Canin food she just eats it all up (but we still top for more flavor now lol)🥰
I just switched from another brand. My dog used to require canned food mixed in with his kibble, but he likes the taste of Royal Canin and will eat it plain.
All my seniors LOVED this food and they stopped making it. So disappointing! :-(
My 17 and 16 year old Irish Jack Russell’s loved this food mixed with the Royal Canin 8 + wet can food. At first I spent hours going store to store hunting for it along with it being unavailable online. Sometimes hitting 6-8 stores in my area. Finally I gave up. There’s nothing worse than switching your dogs food this late in their life.
My little 5 lb 12 year old pom is missing her food. Her hair is gone, she's lackluster. I really blame this on Royal Canin not having this food readily available. Shame on you!
My girls loved this food, and it was readily available, until it wasn't. This food hasn't been available for so long, I can't remember when it was. My girls are 16-1:2 years old, and I'm afraid even if they live til they're 20, they may never see this food again. Royal Canin, please help all these tiny, older dogs get the nutrition they need before it's too late!
Please get more of this brand! My dog is 17 years old and this was perfect! Nothing else compares which clearly others have figured out, as you never have it any more!
Hello fellow dog parent! This food so far, has been an answer to our prayers - literally. Our little lady is a 11 year old pug that has CHF (congestive heart failure. ) Thanks be to God, she is able to have it controlled with medication. However, the Diuretic she’s on is hard on her kidneys after 2.5 years. Unfortunately we cannot lower the dosage without her life enjoyment changing. So onto the good stuff! JollyAnna refused the super expensive Kidney food from the vet and i began praying and searching for an alternative. We found this food, and I bought a small bag and a pack of the 8+ wet. She was being a picky little toot prior to kidney food, and was refusing any other food we gave her and her dog cookies! She’s been happily attacking this food for almost a month I think. I give her a few finger flips of the wet mixed in and she’s happy as can be. She’s been a lot more spunky and running around for food again. We plan to take her in a few more weeks to have her blood work looked at again.
My costumer representative was unbelievably helpful! Great device and Chewy is a wonderful company!! Especially helpful this time I ordered but truly wonderful throughout all the many years I’ve used them!!
